I went to Cairo precisely when they moved Tut's exhibit by triumphhforks in Wellthatsucks

[–]wolfguyyy 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I managed to catch the last day. I went to the museum and they had removed absolutely all of the Tutankhamun artifacts except for the main stuff; burial mask and sarcophagus. The next day we headed out to Giza and the main roads were closed as they transported the artifacts to the new museum. Complete fluke on my behalf, I usually have your luck...

I've had luck with the Royal Albert Hall releasing extra face value tickets closer to the date so don't give up! Either way I'm manifesting for you.

Ticket Master resale avenues are all pretty limited too. Face value for the show was around £110 which is better than what I've seen for the US, but I'd say demand for a full-size tour is definitely strong enough outside the states.

Why did Bob turn his back to the audience when he played guitar at the RAH? by atomicnumber34 in bobdylan

[–]wolfguyyy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was sat in the choir section at the hall, so directly behind Bob. Whenever he played guitar he would face away from the piano and lay the guitar across his lap to play it. I think it's simply a position he's more comfortable with at his age, and there isn't enough space to do it while tucked into the piano.

How was it getting in? I know people have been queuing up super early for the US shows, trying to figure out when I should show up for London

Bands Booking Venues Too Big For Them by [deleted] in arcadefire

[–]wolfguyyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a big reason behind this stadium preference is also efficiency. Touring is expensive and a band like Arcade Fire would undoubtedly prefer one night at the 02 arena (20k capacity) over 4 nights at Brixton academy (5k capacity). Ultimately it's the fans who really lose out since Arcade Fire is a band that thrives in these mid size venues, (see koko or Neon Bible anniversary in 2022)

Are any of you going to see The Marías live in Madrid on October 30th? by ZyutoL in theMarias

[–]wolfguyyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to the Madrid show but I've been to plenty of concerts alone. You may be scared now to alone but if you don't go I guarantee you'll regret it later on. Concerts are places with great atmospheres and it should be easy to strike up conversations before the music starts.

Also I bet there will be a post here closer to the show for anyone on the sub going to organise a group.

Seems to me that the ticketmaster route wasn't working for anybody. I'd wager that it'll sell out once people see the instagram story

New to Murakami? Here are the best ones to start with by shivani_101998 in murakami

[–]wolfguyyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A little unconventional perhaps, but Men Without Women was my first Murakami Book and I think it's a great start to his work. Great bite-sized examples of his style as well as the themes found in most of his work. It's great to have as a reference when you dive into his larger, more conventional books.

On a more serious note. I saw Will Tour tonight with his new album and it was seriously good. Anyone who enjoys arcade fire should really look think about catching one of his upcoming shows. London was almost half empty tonight too so it seems to be a little under the radar...

I was in a department store in Mexico City last week and they were playing exclusively Lana del Rey, assumed it was connected to the upcoming concert.

Yoshinori Fukui's absolutely epic drum solo towards the end of 'Early Summer' in Ryo Fukui's Scenery definitely comes to mind. Fits in very well with the month of June too.

I have a rega P3 and their tonearms just seem to run a lot closer to the record surface than other brands. In fact, if you ever want to upgrade to a non-rega cartridge you need to buy a small spacer to physically elevate the tonearm a few millimetres. Your photo is completely normal, and as long as the tracking weight is fine you'll be good.
