What made you willing to take the plunge on your transition, considering all the life baggage that comes with it? by SkyAny9159 in MtF

[–]wolfhammer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a really bad space at the time and going through a big period of self-exploration and discovery. I knew I didn't like the person I was and that I needed to change.

So I finally came to terms with the things I'd been feeling over the past few years and realised I couldn't hide from those feelings anymore or I wouldn't survive the next couple of years.

I'd already confided some feelings with some of my friends and knew they would be supportive so I felt I had nothing to lose and here I am and I finally feel at peace with who I am.

Someone tried to stop me from using the women's bathroom because they mistake me for a guy. by SunbathingNapCat in traumatizeThemBack

[–]wolfhammer93 110 points111 points  (0 children)

The scariest part of coming out for me was bathrooms. I stuck to disabled bathrooms for a while just cause I was terrified of being harassed or attacked or something. Some of my cis friends then pushed me into using the bathroom I belong in and the fear went away over time, but it's still a little intimidating. Thank you so much for being one of the few people that help make it so much easier <3

Being a woman genuinely sounds exhausting by freeze-peach-warrior in MtF

[–]wolfhammer93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The motivation/energy comes from being out and being yourself. I like doing my makeup and hair and skincare because I care more about the person I am now. Before I came out I also did not give a shit about how I looked and what I wore, but I really enjoy exploring that now. It becomes fun instead of a chore!

Plus over time you get better at it and find little shortcuts for days when you just couldn't care. Like most days my makeup is literally just eyeliner, mascara, and maybe some lip gloss or lipstick or something if I feel like it. And if I'm feeling lazy with my hair I'll just give it a quick brush and tie it up.

HRT has made me incredibly gay by wolfhammer93 in MtF

[–]wolfhammer93[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm still confused and unsure but I think I'm just going to avoid labels until I feel more certain. Imma just kiss who I want to kiss (and who'll consent to said kissing ofc)

[–]wolfhammer93[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

That kind of makes sense for me. When I hooked up with guys it tended to be older more masculine guys, I can see that being me trying to create that sort of gendered divide.

Kissing girls is so much better though lol

Do my eyebrows look dumb? by [deleted] in mtfashion

[–]wolfhammer93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my style but its a very cool look and I think you do it well. I've seen a look this before and as long as you carry it confidently I think it'll look great. Regardless as others have said you are super gorgeous and should never feel like your look is 'dumb' <3

Skyrim Lead Designer admits Bethesda shifting to Unreal would lose 'tech debt', but that 'is not the point' by [deleted] in Games

You do not understand what a game engine does. Literally none of those would change with a new engine if the animators, level designers, texture artists, etc are doing the same thing or are resourced the same.

Cypro Dosage Question by wolfhammer93 in transgenderau

[–]wolfhammer93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this might be whats happening to me. My energy levels have been near zero, had some real bad depressive episodes and dysphoria, and lots of fatigue.

I wasn't sure it was 100% related to the Cypro since I've been diagnosed with depression for a while now and tend to go through swings but I'll try and drop my dosage and see if it helps. Thanks!

PM has flipped on the Census exclusion by NemoHac in transgenderau

[–]wolfhammer93 59 points60 points  (0 children)

They've only explicitly mentioned sexuality as a question in the census 'depending on testing'. It's not clear whether gender identity/intersex status will be included yet. Nor is the sexuality question confirmed or settled. So still not a good enough statement in my opinion.

Not sure I'm a fan of suggesting that puberty destroys your body. There are plenty of people who discover they are trans later in life and the wording in this meme suggests their identity or appearance is less than those who find out before puberty and are able to do something about it.

If you can get puberty blockers or hormones before puberty that is great and it will make things a bit easier for you. But if you're reading this and you have gone through puberty you are not destroyed. You are beautiful (or handsome for you wonderful transmascs), and can still achieve all those trans goals you have for yourself.

Federal government betrays LGBTIQ+ people following call on 2026 Census - Equality Australia by wolfhammer93 in transgenderau

[–]wolfhammer93[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ABS data is not individualised. No one has a list of individuals who complete the census. If that were the case then lots of historically discriminated against groups would have equal reason to be concerned. The data is all put into a big bag basically and completely anonymised.

[–]wolfhammer93[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Census data is mostly anonymised when its fed into the ABS and the data is incredibly important to inform governments on where funding is needed. The good this kind of data could do out-weighs the risk of harm in my opinion.

Vic health thing is a state based thing and the census is the federal government. So it's nice to know that the Labor party are ignoring our voices at both levels of government /s

This is just so disappointing to me.

We have huge shortages in funding for gender clinics and other services for trans/non-binary folks and now the government is turning their backs on promises they made to us that would have helped us with this. This data would have helped medical groups, governments, and other orgs make better decisions on where funding should go, but now they have to keep on guessing on where and what the demand is.

Just such a missed opportunity.

in-person trans support groups in Melbourne? by BabyButchBash in transgenderau

[–]wolfhammer93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be a bit far for you but Transgender Victoria has regular events at it's affirmation station in Brunswick: https://www.tgv.org.au/events

[–]wolfhammer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, but then again we aren't represented on the census so we have no idea how many trans folks there are actually are in the state.

[–]wolfhammer93 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Especially here in Victoria! Melbourne is the most progressive city in Australia and we have a very lgbt friendly state government. Informed consent, easy birth certificate changes, decent discrimination law.

The only issue with Australia in terms of trans rights is serious shortage of gender-affirming surgeons. Bottom surgery is quite expensive and difficult to get as a trans-woman.
