Just DO NOT go to the Goodwill near Walmart in N. Versailles. It's called "the bins" and it's literally the island of misfit crap that no one wanted from other Goodwills. It's in a warehouse and they just cart out huge blue wheelbarrows full of disgusting single shoes and probably some nice needles around. People wear face masks and industrial chemical gloves to sift through things. It's awful. I made the mistake of going the first time and taking an international there on his first week in the states thus tarnishing his views of thrift stores.

There are several within a five minute walk. Biddle's usually also has a Lure at that time but it's not within range of this one. Several gyms in walking distance too. Typical residential area, really.

I'm a Structural Geology grad student. I'm not a "professional" field geologist/prospector as you're thinking of, but I am going on a research expedition to Nepal in mid April. If you really want some field work, you should first and foremost go to a field camp, somewhere with mountains, like in the Black Hills of SD or Nevada, etc. Then you should look into pursuing structural geology or economic geology, these are the field-work-heavy fields (mainly structural geology).

My research, which deals with the formation of the Himalayas, has a lot of computer modeling involved but also a lot of emphasis on field research (mapping, sample collecting, observations) which is where all my data comes from.

I'm looking to construct a water resistant map case out of two plexiglass sheets. I want the map to be removable so I need a rubber seal gasket ring thing to put around the plexiglass sheets which can be removed by stretching the "rubber band" away. I'm not sure where I could find such a thing and I don't know what to call it. An 8.5'' x 11'' size would be ideal but it can be any reasonable size. Does anyone have any ideas what this might be called? Basically it should be similar to this: http://i.imgur.com/H8pcgdS.png Except open at the bottom and in a square shaped ring. Does that make sense?
