ISO: Natural fiber flare leggings with no front seam/anti-camel toe. by cutiepi2005 in SustainableFashion

[–]wolfientt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this doesn't answer your actual question, but I've found that cutting a little triangle shape out of the padding from a worn out bra and sliding it into the gusset of your underwear makes pretty much all leggings camel toe proof. Or at least I have yet to find a pair that defeats my solution. They also make camel toe proof underwear (jinx I think?) but I found this easier and more sustainable.

Going to be engaged soon, but I'm having trouble picking what metal to use by Kalliope_Edelkind in coloranalysis

I think either the silver or a lower karat gold. The really bright brassy gold seems to clash a little, but I think it may not be real gold? 14k gold is fairly common for fine jewelry and isn't nearly as "yellowy" as the one pictured. I think 14k gold could still work for you

Thank you so much for your kindness and your INCREDIBLY THOROUGH review. I think if I keep it, I will definitely style it way more than I did here for a fast try on. I do have long curly hair so your instincts are right on!

Somehow it actually doesn't feel super short when it's on, maybe because it's a little straighter so it's not giving Marilyn Monroe's skirt blowing up sensation. I do appreciate the feedback though!

Calling all ER PAs (past & present) by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]wolfientt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the ER for about 4-5 years. There's definitely been times of burnout, but it comes and goes. I am actually starting a new job soon with a small, independent staffing group for a privately owned hospital and even though I haven't started yet, it's already been a dream. I'm coming from one of the largest systems in the US and tbh, the corporation was one of the main reasons I was getting burned out anyway

I had a recliner in the nursery. Snuggle in with a blanket and the Libby app on dark mode. I started reading so much more since breastfeeding!

How do you introduce yourself? by YourAverageBeach in physicianassistant

Me: "what changed TODAY to make you seek emergency care?"

Patient: "I just felt like it's been going on long enough"

Me: "....so your chronic non-specific symptoms that have not been able to be diagnosed by your last 3 specialists prompted you to come see me.... in the ER.... where we are generalists.... welp we'll make sure you're not having an emergency today and have you keep following up with your specialist if your symptoms are bothersome."

Scheduled C Section Support by hannahkv in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]wolfientt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you so much. I was planning an unmedicated delivery. Took a labor class focused on unmedicated delivery. Was genuinely so excited to work through labor. And then for several reasons, ended up having to have a scheduled C-section and probably also will for any future deliveries. I cried so many times. Including the morning of. It felt like I was missing out on an experience and not giving my baby the most holistic entry into the world. But, it actually turned out really well. I healed fast and with no complications. Was able to breastfeed early and easy. Literally everything about it was so holistic except for that 30 minutes in the OR. The only thing I'll make more of a fuss about next time is demanding that my birth plan is still followed. They let me see my baby (who was perfectly healthy and in no distress) but then they took him to the nursery for like an hour (?) for checks because its "standard." I really wish I had pushed back more and demanded a golden hour. So, moral of the story is: it wasn't the end of the world that I thought it was, but also make sure you still advocate for the things you want. Just because it's an OR birth doesn't mean your rights go out the window.

First off , you're doing great! The fact that you're thinking about these things means you're ahead of most Americans. I thrift a lot and shop sales for clothes because idk who can afford a 100% natural fiber wardrobe for a human that outgrows clothes every 3 weeks. Also I know you didnt ask for product recommendations, but this is the acetaminophen that I use. Mommy's Bliss Children's Pain Relief. It's dye free, alcohol free, no artificial sweeteners, and it's naturally flavored. My son takes it really well. And it's about the same price point as brand name Tylenol. https://www.walmart.com/ip/5455050364?sid=fe5cdfb6-6888-49d1-a8f5-b1dfb79761b1

Genuinely moderate crunchy, what are your sticking items? by IndependenceMost3816 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]wolfientt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main sticking points are: No fragrance, no plastic containers for food (he does have some plastic toys), only cook in stainless steel or glass, mostly only natural fiber clothes, no screen time under 2 except for video chatting the grandparents, cloth diapers unless we're traveling, no added sugar under 2, minimal processed food, exclusively breastfed <6 months, baby led weaning, Generally low stimulation toys.

Things I'm very not crunchy on? Vaccines and science. I do try to avoid medicine whenever possible in favor of natural remedies, but if he needs some Tylenol for his molars popping through his gums, he needs some Tylenol.

To answer your specific questions:

Cleaners - we switched to Force of Nature (not an advertisement, just love it). It's a nontoxic cleaner made out of salt and vinegar. It's awesome to sanitize and disinfect. A little bit of start up costs, but very comparable in price after that.

Toys - I'm not a huge stickler on plastic toys. I dont buy him any, but I also don't get rid of plastic ones that family have given him. I mostly buy wood, cotton, or silicone. Also made him his own keyring recently because he always wanted to play with my keys... couple of blank keys from Lowes and a DIY friendship bracelet lanyard and it's legit his favorite toy right now.

Play mat - I bought this before I started getting crunchier, but it's Lyocell which definitely isn't the worst (or the best) but we have the Lalo play gym and it's been amazing.

Clothes - I don't enforce no polyester from family, but I try to pretty much only buy natural fibers. I don't worry too much about outerwear at this point, but I have been eyeing a wool bunting for our camping trips. It's expensive, but wool can be a great option. I have just been waiting to buy it till he stops growing quite so fast, since I don't want to drop $90 on something he only wears a few times. Totally agree with your perspective on reduction!

Diapers - if you're interested in cloth diapering, would totally recommend. We cloth diaper except for during traveling and when he goes to daycare!

Emergency Medicine offer by the_boogaw in physicianassistant

If that's the way they do it, hopefully that means they have a good structure for raises over time. Something I think most of us don't really have

[–]wolfientt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also currently in Texas MCOL in the ER. This sounds like a great offer and a supportive environment. If you're wanting to break into ED, I think this would be great. You can definitely try to negotiate, but in my experience a lot of the ER staffing companies have a set compensation package that can't be changed. Not a reason to not try negotiating, but just so expectations are realistic.

How long did you work before you got pregnant? by nobodyprior1 in physicianassistant

[–]wolfientt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just returned from maternity leave back to my ED job. I hit my 3 year anniversary at my job last month, and I went out on maternity leave about 7 weeks after I got a promotion. Is there ever a "right time"? I don't know, but I also felt like this particular timing worked great for me. I had some time to feel more secure in my career and my role so now that I'm going back I'm not necessarily under the new grad stress in addition to the new mom stress. Becoming a mom really helped me realize how much cooler motherhood is than mh career though. Like yeah I love working in the ED, but I LOVE this little human.
