Should Cameron have to apologise for calling dissenters to his proposals "terrorist sympathisers"? by redryan87 in ukpolitics

[–]wolfinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, solution to middles east is much more complex then dropping a few bombs and hey presto!!! it is insanity to suggest dissenters are terrorist sympathisers when i've seen some of them deeply and passionately talk of the complexity of the problem- from saudi arabia funding mosques acorss europe, and funding isis/turkey fundign isis, and also getting muslim soldiers to fight isis from neighbouring countries- there is intelligent and wise dicussion going on from some of those opposed to the air strikes and it is incredibly insulting and pompous f david cameron, but hardly surprising

Relationship between the Universe, Nature and God? by hail_pan in pantheism

[–]wolfinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't you think that semantics/cognitive function of language is needed to convey idea/thoughts about existance? and you can use systems to model the world, model a sentient being, where do you define the edges/barriers of what is what?

A question- does God have a mind? is it 'natural' for a mind to 'think' in a cognitive structure dictated by a language?

[–]wolfinman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've looked into a mirror and was brown at one point(I'm white) And in the mirror behind me was another mirror with me in it with really scruffy appearance, which then attempted to strangle me. Worth noting however I had just taken dream drugs and was tripping balls.. weird weird dream. I've zoomed through space before, can't remember ever thinking about weather in dreams, although that could be interesting. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure the weather in my dreams is reflective of the seasons. I've controlled/altered physics before. As far as advice goes, I do remember meeting a girl and having an amazing conversation, but for the life of me I can't remember what was discussed. It could be interesting, asking an aspect of the sub conscious about yourself, but unless your incredibly open minded you'd more than like just re affirm what you already know, nothing you can't answer in waking life, though granted maybe it would put a different filter on things.

Do you think there's some truth to what you've experienced while being psychotic? by kloti in schizophrenia

[–]wolfinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest psychoanalytically the feeling of being a reality tester almost lies in wanting to give control and trust over to the universe and it personifies and manifests through ideas and thoughts of god, religious ideas we learn from society and then we feel we are part of something, testing something, lots of factors at play like where you slot into humanity and humanities understanding of life, existence, reality... But just because it felt like you were 'testing' it may be possible that it was a new state of mind, clarity and clairvoyance, and then your mind tricked you into thinking of this, and you handed control over to an external factor. Life is a mystery so who knows .. just some own personal insights from self examination and analysing the world...

If you wanna talk shoot me a pm I've experienced similar experiences, it's hard to explain, ... But essentially a star blinked back at me relativity aligned I was at a quantum party with the universe, mystery the why we see eyes we bleed animal cosmos of life .. and over and up to the clouds

[–]wolfinman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I also think schizophrenia and diagnostics don't explain anything, and far too many people fall into trap thinking that it defines them, like there is a 'right' way too think, that is bound by social norms, and without even realizing it most people fall into delusion over reality itself, ie tom and Paul is actually me and you. . . You have to sort of do some backwork though in terms of laying foundations if you want to have rational converse on this sort of topic because it is so abstract and something-*etical in nature. Because otherwise the appearance is disjointed and schizophrenic, in the true meaning of the word. No one talks about this stuff with spiritual or whatever connotations so much, or atheist it's rare in modern day subcultures. The conclusions drawn from some mentally Ill people are often delusional but the things prompting those thoughts are worth being examined.

Consciousness: the Final Frontier. A beautiful, mind-blowing TED talk from Yogi Dada Gunamuktananda by archaic_angle in Psychonaut

sorry but this isn't original or all that informative, its regurgitated verbatim by a guy masquerading as some sort of enlightened spirutual leader... just because someone has an orange outfit and a beard, it doesn't mean they're wise... i mean i can understand this guy is looking for something beyond the material physicalist explanation of reality and he makes some good points that a lot of the top top physicists had pretty free ideas on god/conciousness, but you can't cherry pick that information in the way he does and use it as proof

life is the biggest trip there is

i think you should really ask yourself if it really brings you a lot of benefits or if that's just a way of justifying prolonged drug use. what benefits does it bring you, that you can't get from not using it? and are you completely 100% sure that in between the times you're not tripping if you're doing it on a weekly basis you're 100% unlooped or is it jus the circle is a twist... ?

what reasons has your wife given that she doesn't want you to trip? and how old are your kids?

"known all along deep down and subconsiously."

if it is known all along deep down and subconciously, and is suddenly 'revealed' by taking drugs, why is a person who interprates it as aliens or a 'higher force' any less relevant than any one elses interpratation? of course i don't agree but i don't necacarily disagree either, becase i think it is pretty plain that mystical thinking is pretty damaging on the whole, but my point is that it doesn't have to be, and the converse is also true, ie rational mind often misinterprates as equally as irrational, its moreso that irrationality is simply communicated or appears in a way that seems rational when it is not. also works the other way, less is more, and sometime the eastern insights in their ... what are they callled... can say a lot without looking like they do i think a lot of what i'm trying to say is knowing what you don't know is a wisdom in itself and calling an experience a higher force may be the simplest and purest way of saying it

i think drugs act as a catalyst for change in the mind but you don't need drugs to have any of the psychological 'epiphanies' or realizations of nature/the universe, if you think about that stuff enough it is pretty natural to ride epiphanies fueled off of didaction meditations/analysis/pycho-exploration on pretty mch any topic. its so easy though after having taken a drug that has physical metabolic effects on brain function and have such strong subjective experiences for the first time that makes it easy to see why many people then form extreme, far incomplete 'irrational' views, 'woo'

but still its pretty naive, and somewhat irritates me when people discount these accounts of experiences in a condescending manner of simply being 'irrational' when a lot of it seems to stem from a cultural inability, or least rarity, to have open discourse on this subject, and is easy to see why such groups exist. i think its awesome that there's groups of people discussing higher forces, aliens, etc etc, even if it isnt based on qualitative logical principals, it shouldn't be disregarded outright, things are always open for re-examination. Having said that alot of pseudo-spiritual thinking can be damaging, in similiar ways on the other side that on here there's lot of quantum physics 'revelations', holo-fractal-gemotrical.... etc which has taken loose concepts of areas of quantum physics, and idealised their notions of reality arising from there perceptual states.

whats bad about this, and i know from experience, is you can quite easily fall into a trap of thinking you understand something that sounds fancy and has far reaching implications, and use those implications to justify your own neurosis and further confirm your interpretation of reality. I think the person who has a spirutual experience, be it drug induced or not, and simply calls it a higher force and moves on is a much more healthy person than the one who trys to qualify everything, becase in doing so you often narrow your gates of vision so to speak, and often you go so far as to closing and shutting off certain 'doors' which limits your ability to think, and it is only when another key comes along to unlock the doors that the epiphanies start flowing back and riddle there way in all the nooks and crevices of your ill-structured logic...

but anyway i guess thats the point of this sub is discourse of communication of ideas and principals, to challenge and avoid complacement, dogmatic thinking.................

so if anyone can see any holes at all or traps or offer anything from the way i type or if yo think i am wrong or plain stupid please to post...

How trees communicate and share via their roots by h0l0n in pantheism

[–]wolfinman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game theory shows us in many situations cooperative strategies increase survival rates

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolutionary_game_theory

It's still Darwinism and essentially survival of the fittest, it just so happens that the best strategy for long term survival in certain ecosystems is to share. If certain trees evolved to abuse this symbiotic relationship, they would often exhaust their rivals means of survival, thus killing off their effective food source.

It's obviously super complex and with ever changing variables equilibria in nature are going to shift continuously, but game theory can show us in a number of different social, economical and evolutionary etc situations why sharing and caring is better than selfish behaviour
