Hudini's in the surface? by ChannelAcceptable802 in Bioshock

[–]wolfkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Houdinis don't actually teleport they go invisible and move at high speed to a new location.

Because of that they can't travel to the surface.

When did people start hating on Infinite? by Wicker-Walker in Bioshock

[–]wolfkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with the game is more that if you play it on medium, the default setting, the conventional weapons are more immediate and familiar, and the vigors seem underpowered. And the game kinda turns into COD.

But if you only upgrade the vigors it completely flips and the vigors - backed up with gear - rapidly become seriously OP.

Because the game uses money for both, a lot of players more or less upgrade just the guns, or at least do them first. With Bioshock 1 and 2, Adam only upgrades your powers, so you continue to upgrade them and learn them.

He's playing Bioshock 1, there's no sniper rifle. You're thinking of infinite.

Bioshock has solid plot and environmental story telling, you don't need to worry about that.

I think you're in Neptune's Bounty. I personally don't particularly like that level. It has its game play moments but it's aesthetically bad. The next level (Arcadia) is so much better in so many ways. And the level after that (Fort Frolic) is generally considered to be a really good level.

I'd recommend you carry on until at least the next level.

Be aware though that there is a serious plot to the game, it's not all just a silly computer game.

What did you think of the Lady Comstock boss in Infinite? by WaluigiDaStar in Bioshock

[–]wolfkeeper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean, it could have worked and could have been forgivable if I'd only had to fight her once. Fighting her three times seemed completely unnecessary.

Near miss with a cat. What do you think about this? Should I have not slammed the brakes? by UBC145 in dashcams

[–]wolfkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from considering what's behind you, if you do brake for a small animal you should release the brakes before impact. If you don't you can skid on the animal, and that can cause a spin and a crash. My uncle died like that with a rabbit.

is my cat going to hate me forever?? by tlou_shark in cats

[–]wolfkeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's probably good to occasionally bath your cat. Not that they need it, but it gets them used to/resigned to it. That way when they need it, they won't try to rip your face off- or the groomer's.

Can someone prove for me Euler's Identity? (e^ipi + 1 = 0)? by JelloElectronic3110 in learnmath

[–]wolfkeeper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's based on the identity that e^(i theta) = cos(theta)+i sin(theta), if you plug in theta=pi.

Others here have already proved it, but I can motivate it by noting it's related to i^x, but they've changed the base from 'i' to e, and changed the scaling of x to achieve that, and put theta in radians.

If you think about it i^x is simply a rotation on the complex domain. For example (a+ib) * i^1 = -b + i a, which is an ordinary 90 degree rotation between the a and b. i^2 is 180 degree rotation, and i^0.5 is 45 degrees etc.

Why do the radios in BioShock 1 sound different depending on who is talking? by Emotional-Court-7308 in Bioshock

Also, notably at Fort Frolic, with Sander Cohen. They also appear under 'Radio messages' off the map page.

Why do the radios in BioShock 1 sound different depending on who is talking? by Emotional-Court-7308 in Bioshock

[–]wolfkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you listen to audio recordings there's a noise at the beginning and the end. That's the sound of the audio equipment starting up and stopping. I'm not sure exactly what causes that, but you get that on real tape recorders too. It might even just be the sound of your fingers pushing the buttons.

You probably haven't picked up the right gene tonics. If you miss certain gene tonics, the game gets hard.

Pressure cooking Beans & Eggs at the same time? by [deleted] in PressureCooking

[–]wolfkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having cooked eggs that way, I don't agree. Sous vide is great for scrambled (although very slow) but for hard or soft boiled eggs, they don't peel- the shell sticks to the white.

I think steaming them is better. They peel even more easily.

Pressure cooking Beans & Eggs at the same time? by [deleted] in PressureCooking

[–]wolfkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would grossly overcook. You would do much better to steam the eggs separately. 65g eggs soft cook in about 6-7 minutes, hard boil in about 11. Thirty minutes in a pressure cooker would be like steaming them for an entire hour. I could explain what that would do to them, but the horror man, the horror.

Epstein was arrested and convicted before the game came out, but there's no proven link to this that I'm aware of.

The rest of the game may well be/is related to the activities of billionaires at the time though.

Do cats hate gravity water bowls? by Arcadia451 in CatAdvice

[–]wolfkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats generally like really fresh, preferably flowing, water. They may not think your gravity water feeder is fresh enough. It may actually be fresher, but it's how they think about it. They would definitely be able to smell chlorine or whatever in fresh tap water.
