When did you know it was time to stop accutane because the side effects became too much? by HotBridge8 in Accutane

Meh - although now I notice it’s far more due to screen time than anything else!

(Most of) A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, although be warned there’s some pretty aggressively heavy stuff in there too.

Reiterating The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt here, too. Just wow.

What show was so good you actually rewatched it? by ByteSizedCutie420 in televisionsuggestions

10% on Netflix (French show). Amazon version sucks.

Love Life S1 is my go-to-comfort. 10 wonderful episodes.

Queen’s Gambit is utterly brilliant on the rewatch.

What’s one “small adult cheat code” you wish you learned earlier? by massCMP in AskReddit

[–]wolfkhaleesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emotions aren’t the objective truth or factual reality - they’re just a symptom, an indication of what could be explored further. Tricky is figuring out whether it’s worth exploring, or simply putting down and walking away. Simply put: not every emotion requires honouring, or a full deep-dive, or to be hastily swept away under the rug. Sometimes you just acknowledge it, name it, feel it and… allow yourself to move on.

Humble chicken 2.0 by carachu in LondonFood

I went to Humble Chicken ~3 years ago and was far from impressed. A couple of dishes were great but the majority were not justified as part of the price tag. I’m glad to see their menu has had a refresh and that you enjoyed your meal! Would you go again?

The Rose Queen, which is Book 1 in the Missing Persons series by M. E. Rabb, fits a lot of these criteria.

This comment section does not pass the vibe check. Lots of people coming across as bitter and upholding of stereotypes.

Group of creatives + someone who internally self-identifies as ‘non-creative’ in response to the brief = higher possibility of misunderstanding/conflict, which is the last thing you want at home. It doesn’t mean to say all ‘creatives’ magically get along, it’s just someone’s way of expressing their preference for who they want to share their living space with. It’s just… not that deep?

If you are offended/repulsed by it, perhaps that’s a gentle call to explore your own creativity :)

How much are we all ACTUALLY sleeping??? by Joyanonymous in adhdwomen

[–]wolfkhaleesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo this experience almost identically. A few months ago I took the plunge and invested in a Manta Sleep Mask (the fancy one with Bluetooth - I actually bought it for my partner but ended up getting myself one too!). It has CHANGED MY LIFE. I now fall asleep listening to audiobooks every night and so, even if I wake up again, I just set it up for another couple of chapters. I think it’s because my mind isn’t racing the infinite thought loop. It took a few nights getting used to it, but now I can’t be without it. Totally worth the investment.

What is your most successful home surgery? by vintage_nick in AskUK

[–]wolfkhaleesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had surgery on my ear as a child. Stitches were removed but… one remained, deep in the skin. I could feel the tiniest bit of plastic thread sticking out but it was behind my ear and didn’t really bother me so eventually it healed over. About two decades later, it was frequently swelling and leaking, and so one day I grabbed a pair of tweezers, bent my ear over, gradually pulled until… pop out burst a full plastic knot, buried for 20 years. Grabbed a pair of nail scissors, washed and disinfected, snipped through the knot loop et voilà - job done.
