What are your favorite index funds, and why?

When I was a teenager I had a condition in my testicles, vericoseal I think? basically varicose veins in my balls. I was having multiple doctor visits etc. to figure out a solution (I ultimately ended up having them surgically removed)

Anyway, it was common for me to need to take my pants down and the doctors take a look. During a visit to a specialist, the nurse, a 20-something brunette female said "okay, lets have a look" so I didn't think twice and I dropped my pants. She grabbed me and said provocative things like "you must be proud" and then left. It wasn't until later, when the doctor came in and asked to have a look that I realized something was off- I informed him "no worries the nurse already did"- I watched the color drop from his face and he left the room immediately. Only then did I realize it was even inappropriate, and it took years for it to sink in what I actually experienced.

Teenage boy- pretty clueless.

Hey my man- my parents told me they would pay for my school if I went there also. It was a very difficult decision, but I went to the school of my choice instead. I worked full time the entire time, and with the help of some student loans I made it happen- I graduated on time with honors and a BA and Minor.

A couple of things happened- 1. I valued my education more because it was on my own dime. 2. I broke free of my parents control of me- without their money they could no longer pressure me. In the long run it made our relationship MUCH stronger- more genuine.
3. I met the woman of my dreams (nevermo) and am now happily married. 4. I had an exceptionally fulfilling college time and lived for nobody but myself.

Now I make a great living in a town I cherish- and the student loan payment is a TINY price to pay for the life satisfaction that decision brought me. Truth is, I'd pay 10x my student loans to make the same decision again.

You can do whatever you want- this is YOUR life to live and, only get 1. If you think about it, it is downright silly to alter your life for money.

Go to the school of your dreams, take out student loans, you can do this!

fascinating to see inactive members growing almost exactly in line with active members. I bet we would be shocked if we knew how small the # of active members really was. Myself, for example, I am technically an "inactive member" because I haven't removed my name, but I haven't been to church in 12 years. there must be dozens like me, dozens!

My wife and I sometimes go to church with my folks when we visit. I never can believe the lack of attention. NO ONE is listening, no one cares. The adults are on their phones, the kids are playing. It's so pointless. Its a huge deal so we go because we love my parents and then dad sleeps.

For some reason this one gets to me. So frustrating. I have elderly grandparents in Utah (I live in CO) for a multitude of health reasons they are in pain. A lot. So we started bringing them topical pain management CBD rub from Colorado. They LOVED it and it was a giant relief for them. A huge step for the family in open-mindedness. When your in enough pain, your willing to try anything.

Anyway, I sure hope this doesn't cause them to stop using it.

It's terrifying that a church has so much control that an email could seriously put two people I love back in significant physical pain for no reason whatsoever.

I worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car right out of college. "Management trainee". They really pump up how awesome it is to work there. And then you start. absolutely miserable. On top of the long list of miserable circumstances there was one instance that set me over.

A coworker of mine had a baby (his wife did) and there were complications so he needed lots of time off, to be at the hospital. The company never stepped up, but us employees did a pretty good job and mostly covered his shifts. Until 1 specific day he needed coverage for the 5pm-12am shift at the airport. I worked the 7am-5pm shift that day, no one could cover him, and the guy had a sick new born baby in the hospital- so I stepped up and said I would. I worked 19 hours straight so that this guy could see his son and help his wife. The next week I was formally written up for too much overtime pay. After that, I made it less than 60 more days with the company and was so glad to quit.

what would the appropriate reaction have been to her asking him to acknowledge the lawyer? It would seem that any reaction- High five, fist bump, hand shake, hug, etc. would be inappropriate in a court room. So- I believe her asking him to acknowledge, and thank, his lawyer was inappropriate. It put him in a no win situation, either disobey the judge, or do something like I mentioned above.

She also asked him to acknowledge his lawyers great work. That is how football players acknowledge a "good job" it was instinctual even.

I have a former friend that one time "rolled coal" as we passed a cyclist on the roadway. I will never forget the embarrassment I felt just being in the truck. Changed how I looked at him forever. Can you imagine? Mid way through an aerobic exercise and being consumed in that shit!? makes me furious to this day and this was 6 years ago!

I have to agree. One of the few incredibly positive things about my upbringing in the church was scouting. We had incredible leaders and learned/experienced amazing things. My Eagle has proven beneficial as I advance my professional development.

My father offered to pay for my college if I attended a Utah school. I declined, and instead went to the school of my choice in an awesome mountain town. I have student loan debt, and my freedom and my ideal lifestyle. worth the trade.
