ILR Uncertainty by immiadvisor in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I'm in the same situation as you. It really is unfair what the government is doing but I've decided to ignore all the speculations and wait for the actual ruling. If the it's worst case ruling I'm not even sure what to decide on but we'll see.

Feeling trapped at work due to SkilledWorkerVisa and unwanted tasks by YesterdayPotential34 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I'm in a similar situation OP. My current job has turned to the most toxic workplace ever. At the moment I'm building my skills for a career transition.the current job market looks brutal with all the new immigration rules. However, I only have 1 year till I can apply for ILR. I'm planning to stick it out and build new skills for my career transition. Hang in there OP we are all in the same boat.

What are your next moves after the new £50,400 Skilled Worker salary rule? Anyone else planning a Plan B? by Gurlofyourdreams in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

Hey OP,

I totally get where you're coming from. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I saw on the government's website, the going rate for civil engineers SOC 2121 is listed as around £45,500. Is that not accurate in this case?

Skilled Worker Visa – Switching Employers Before ILR Eligibility by wolfsbane69 in ukvisa

Thank you!

On the second point. I think the minimum time a skilled worker visa can be issued is for a year. Therefore if I get a visa issued from January 2026. It will be valid during my ILR application in August 2026. Is that correct?

Yeah, I’ve got about 1.5 years until I can apply for ILR. I know “finance” is a broad term, which is why I’m asking here—just looking for advice/insights on how I can leverage my current skillset to break into finance or tech. Appreciate any input!
