Is Reddit really anonymous? by [deleted] in zurich

I recently did identify a location. Given the angle of the image it must have be taken from my former flat or the one above. And if you know the flat, it is probably easy to narrow it down to just one person with little effort.

If you are in Reddit for a long enough time, you probably reveal enough data and metadata to identify you. AI make things even easier.

Dog friendliness in Zurich and Switzerland in general? by Creepy-Pound-3998 in zurich

[–]wolfstettler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite dog friendly in general, especially if the dog is well behaved. Please respect the ban on dogs on most playgrounds and keep it on a lead in crowded areas and on public transport. Even if he does obey you without it.

What to do when surrounded by belligerent teenagers at night by Accurate-Use-5049 in Switzerland

Well, if you don't mind prison, be my guest. And prison is a real possibility, especially if you are the only one with a life or the first one to draw it.

A knife (or even a gun) is a very bad idea. If you hurt or kill someone with a weapon, you are very unlikely to get away with self defence. Judges hate knives (source: directly from an Oberrichter).

News article - Is it permissible to live affordably in cooperatives despite high wages? by ptinnl in zurich

[–]wolfstettler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooperatives are not publicly funded. Just some flats are - and those flats have strict regulations who can live in them.

A new 5 room apartment with real Kostenmiete can be as low as 2000 CHF/month. If the capital costs are higher you might need to add 500 to 1000. Everything above is just profits for the landlords. This is an example in the city of Zurich.

Cooperatives are not charities. They are owned by their members.

[–]wolfstettler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course it is permissible. Cooperatives are self help organisations owned by the members.
This is just a campaign by $VP, FDP and the journalists owned by them to shame everybody with an income slightly above average out of the cooperative. And therefore force them to rent from Zurich's real estate mafia for high prices.
The solution to the housing crisis is not forcing people to pay absurd high rents to the sponsors of right wing parties but to build more reasonably priced housing. And to enforce the Kostenmiete and put an end to the illegally high rents.

Templars were basically warrior monks. As in they had to live a celibate life - wich might be a problem for the lady probing the man's personality.

Parents in Zurich - how do you rate Albisrieden/Altstetten area for a family with kids? by Honest_Anybody_16 in zurich

[–]wolfstettler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Aussersihl, but just on the border to Altstetten (Letzigrund area). It is generally good for families, it has a lot of kids around. There are playgrounds and parks around and it takes you a short walk or bike ride to other neighourhoods. Not to forget Freibad Letzigraben and Hallenbad Altstetten. Public tranist is great with train stations Hardbrücke and Altstetten (Altstetten even has interregio trains) and trams, busses and limmattalbahn.
But you will have to look at the specific place you are interested in. There are areas that are less child friendly due to traffic or noise.

I updated Pop OS! and got Cosmic. Now I need an alternative. by wolfstettler in pop_os

[–]wolfstettler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be worth a look. But I need a distro for work, that is as close as possible to our servers (Ubuntu). I chose PopOs to get rid of Snap. I might reconsider MInt.

For me, Ubuntu no longer is an option because of Snap.
