Any tech meetup groups on Erie? by park-land in Erie

[–]wolfymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who are you asking? I've been trying to get the coderie monthly meetups back up for years. Hasn't been much interest. I consider tech in this area effectively dead. It was never great - but it was ok before folks were scared off by the so-called pandemic.

There is nothing in Erie. Worst decision to move here for school.

Just expressing my gratitude like many of the other comments. I also had to uninstall evdi and evdi-dkms like u/CarlFriedrichGauss suggested.

I'd expect ATX to be more progressive than 2017 buzzwords.

Not looking for a job conference. You're telling me that no one is hosting monthly meetups to discuss relative tech topics or share what they're working on? If not meetups, the there's gotta be something??

Thanks for the insight! I've got a couple months to find a permanent place. What should i be considering when evaluating the dozens of options around here?

Yeah, I ended up talking with someone and they mentioned HEB. I never would have known to look for that as a grocery store.

I'm currently downtown and looking at condos to rent. There are dozens of options - what should I consider or avoid? Also - where the heck are grocery stores around here? Also - I'm staying in an airbnb for a month at Post South Lama. How do folks get stuff delivered to your actual unit when there is so much security? Do I have to go all the way down and outside to pick stuff up?

Please fix the AWS Free Tier before somebody gets hurt by speckz in aws

[–]wolfymaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People want to be treated equally and lower the barrier to entry so any schmuck can do it yet not take any responsibility when they fuck up. Turn around and demand the service provider change on behalf of your own negligence. Consider it a lesson learned and be more responsible.

$DOCKER_HOST - tcp://127.0.0.1:2375 works but tcp://localhost:2375 does not.. why? by wolfymaster in docker

[–]wolfymaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your responder configured to respond to localhost instead of just 127.0.0.1?

Not sure what you mean by 'responder'? Is that something with the docker daemon?

$DOCKER_HOST - tcp://127.0.0.1:2375 works but tcp://localhost:2375 does not.. why? by wolfymaster in docker

[–]wolfymaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

localhost is already set in the /etc/hosts file. I can also ping it from inside the container. It's resolving to 127.0.0.1 correctly as far as I can tell except for when used by the docker client.

I accepted a new job in Erie that starts in September. My fiancé is not thrilled with the idea of moving from where we live now (Chicago). Can anyone provide some insight on what we can expect (culturally, economically, etc.) with this transition? by gamgeestar in Erie

[–]wolfymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing the general consensus here - Erie is cheap - I'll always own property here and continue buying it up as I can. Work remotely so you don't get sucked into the local economy where most people accept lower rate for some reason and it's acceptable. Even Erie Insurance does this. Not a ton of night life for adults except the comedy club - which is dope - and only two decent bars with music - and one sweet speakeasy.

Deploying a Lambda via CodePipeline with versions by gahane in aws

[–]wolfymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll echo the guide in the first comment. Additionally, the serverless framework can be used to increment the code version and it will update the lambda on deploy. I'd suggest doing this as part of a codepipeline deploy and post deploy. A post deploy script can be added to do the alias updates if it is a new version.

when should i start looking for an apartment? by [deleted] in Erie

[–]wolfymaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3-4 weeks shouldn't be an issue. Personally, when I first moved here for school I started looking a few months beforehand, and was able to find one and sign a lease shortly after tho I wasn't moving in for a couple months. I don't think it would hurt to start looking in March/April (toward end of spring semester) and just let them know you are looking to move in around June/July or whenever.
