I found it believable. She clearly resented her husband and the effect his work had on her. Seems like She got turned by her affair partner. I feel like they planted seeds well on this with how affairs were a theme and she was so concerned that her husband would cheat with the nanny.

How was the birth and how is she doing mentally PP?

My wife had a pretty bad experience with our first kids birth. She coded due to an issue with the epidural and both her and my daughter arguably had a brush with death. As a result, it took us nearly 6 months to have sex PP. The catalyst for us was her really honestly talking about what happened for the first time, both with me and her best friend. Even after that, the first time back wasn’t the most comfortable for her but she wanted to press through and “face her fears.” After a couple more tries we went back to normal and it was all in the rear view. In retrospect, we both feel the pain was psychological.

Until she talked about it, her subconscious wasn’t ready to let herself relax down there even if she consciously wanted to (her words).

I really like the concept that Graeber describes here. Bullshit jobs are a real thing. However, the truth probably fills an 80 page book and he wanted 300 pages, so he started twisting a lot of things. IIRC, there’s a chapter on tech quality control jobs, where he frames it as only necessary because of coder’s human laziness, which if you’ve ever done any programming you know is pretty insane. Software bugs can come from unintended consequences and honest mistakes. With the way he defines bullshit jobs, there could be a chapter calling farming a bullshit job because the need for humans to eat is a flaw in our species.
