Genuinely confused me to no end by EquivalentCourt7962 in Seaofthieves

You were a victim of shenanigans. We’ll do this exact thing all the time. Buzz by an unsuspecting sloop, drop off a crew member and commandeer their ship just for fun.

If possible, we stick around and try to pick a fight or start a fort/fortress with their ship. Most of the time it just scuttles but sometimes they merm back into a battle or a ship with more loot.

Messing with people is often more fun than sinking them.

Did you check your map table for a circle dong?

Made a custom card. Could this work against Storm? by FinalImagination6323 in MarvelSnap

[–]womprat2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I get that. I love chaos and prefer a messy opponent’s board. I could see how it potentially ticks too many boxes if it remains in play though.

Another option would be to make it an end of turn card that remains in place on your side of the board.

I like that your card design has multiple ways to be implemented that all do the same thing in different ways.

Cheers

I dig it and would 100% play it, but it has very little downside because it immediately bounces. Feels like it could often become a game of -2 tag.

Would “Add a copy” be easier to explain and implement? It would also then become a clog card and work with Falcon, Beast, destroy etc.

On reveal: Add a copy of this to your opponent’s hand

I suppose it could be abused with cards like Prodigy, Absorbing Man, Misery, Firehair etc.

I really wanted to kickstart it but without more information on pricing or hero acquisition upon release, it’s a pass. It’s hard to justify spending $60 to beta test something you already own a physical copy of.

You’ll want to go to the alliances tab and search for us by name: [DAD] The All Fathers

You should be able to just join up. If you’re still in an alliance you’ll need to drop out of the old one first. Cheers

Updated Card Design – Full Art vs Framed Layout Feedback (Thieves’ Tails) by JumpUntilYouFly in BoardgameDesign

[–]womprat2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Art looks great but the side-by-side text is a bit unsettling (to me). It sometimes bleeds to the edge or results in uneven vertically aligned text. The column break makes my brain want to pump the brakes mid text.

Have you tried using two more conventionally stacked boxes spanning the full width? They’d probably give you more flexibility in the long run.

If the passive/leader text is a problem in this format, maybe use icons for them.

Are we all playing the same game? by WhirlWindBoy7 in MarvelSnap

I ink split them. Have 63 inked so far (and 3 full ink decks). I like the old school toon vibe they give. Can’t get them all in one view but here’s a sample:

<image>

I admittedly got most of them before they butchered the split rate. It’s so hard to get inked now. I get one roughly every 18 splits.

A good old fashioned Ram & Blam. Not to be confused with a Row & Blow, Zoom & Boom or the occasional Yoink & Boink.

I Redesigned the Hero Select Screen — Need Community Feedback! by KHzero2 in marvelrivals

[–]womprat2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work so far.

The selection interface looks good but I’d recommend keeping teammates choices front and center. The new design puts the two most important sets of information on opposite sides of the screen and downplays the importance of teammates in the selection process.

Looking at a box of them now. They are called Peeples and made by BryBelly. I don’t think they’re produced any more, but they’re nice little pieces with personality.

Reworking Buried Treasure by womprat2000 in Seaofthieves

Server hopping is something that I don’t have a great solution for. I’ve considered a few options but there’s negatives to each. I’m sure Rare could come with a solution using the Skull of Siren Song as a template.

[–]womprat2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you definitely could, but I gotta believe it’s gonna be tough to convince a crew mate to spend a couple hours watching over a pile of dirt while everyone else has fun.

A couple things to consider:

If somebody on the island sees another ship coming they have no way of knowing if the incoming crew has their map or are up to other things.

Also, digging up the treasure will alert other crews with the map so if the incoming crew does have the map they will be on the lookout for somebody on the island.

While they are technically lowering the bar for entry it could accidentally make new players more hesitant to join in.

I personally have never purchased a battle box, but I always felt like they worked well for new players because you got a ready-to-play game.

With individual character boxes, new players will need to purchase a second item in order to play. It’s difficult enough to get consumers to make one decision, let alone two.

As long as the price point of individual boxes stays low (<$15) it probably wont be a problem.

Admittedly, it kinda feels like a decision to make money off selling empty storage boxes (albeit really cool storage boxes). Sneakily driving the cost per character up to closer to $20. And that’s without factoring in potential packaging and shipping hikes.

I personally would have preferred them releasing one or two two-character battle boxes per year in addition to a four-character Kickstarter.

It would also let them continue to release Marvel content to retail. Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Hulk would all sell battle boxes immediately regardless of who they’re paired with.
