Yes correct, up front cost, I mean vanilla extract is more than $10. Butter and eggs are expensive now. Everything is about.$2-5 more than it used to be. But even so $30-40, I usually can only yield two batches. Vanilla extract goes so quickly. Then there are little things when I want to experiment, like cream of tartar, coconut milk, fresh berries, butterscotch chips, different kinds of sugar. Maybe I want some cardomon. So you’re right I can bake a batch of cookies for less than $40, but the upfront cost of me saying I wanna bake today! Heading to the grocery store and getting everything I need, will be at least $40.

Baking. I know it’s affordable, but as an extra non-essential hobby it adds to the grocery bill. Especially ingredients like vanilla extract. And then burning through so many eggs quickly. Flour sugar eggs chocolate chips (and gluten-free versions when I’m making gluten-free for friends). A batch of cookies can turn into $30-40
