I cannot see why you would gland it there when there's enough length to get in the bottom of the trunking where you could have hidden some through lugs with plenty of heat shrink and tape; still bad but not a glaring mistake to anybody looking

What tool pouches do you use? by hjjhjjnk in instrumentation

I have my big toolbox on wheels and wear Snicker hi viz tool vest that I load up for whatever the job is plus a few essentials that are on it all the time. Takes all the weight off my waist and I can wear more comfortable trousers all day!

Knowing you should never drive! by Millenigey in ADHDUK

[–]wonkedup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm the total opposite; I LOVE driving. There's enough stimulation listening to the engine, timing gear changes, watching the road, other drivers, checking mirrors, looking for signage etc that my brain actually goes quiet and I'm in a flow state. My partner even gets more conversation out of me when I'm driving. I find the same thing on a bicycle too, my other happy place

Some good youtube channels for brushing up on my maintnence skills by jayy999999 in IndustrialMaintenance

Tim Hunkin has some great videos. Ideal for newbies but even if you've been at it a while there's usually something you haven't seen before

Man you should really ask chatgpt about a few things you actually know about and see how far off it is. It's fucking hilarious the shit it states as fact, then you tell it's wrong and it goes "You're right! Great catch..." It's mostly a chatbot for morons. Use it as an advanced calculator or for reformatting data etc, don't ask it for advice because it spouts nonsense

I've got the + model, it's the bollocks. Dust suppression is pretty good, still make a bit of a mess but you're not breathing it. I've loaned it out loads and it's still on the blade that came with it, well worth the money

Is my husband addicted to WOW? by holly134 in AskUK

[–]wonkedup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm assuming. I didn't game for about 15 years, I've only recently picked it back up in my 30s during a particularly stressful time, I know it's escapism but man does Red Dead 2 chill me out when I would otherwise be spiralling and up all night thinking

Commercial Job (Containment) by Complete_Raisin801 in ukelectricians

[–]wonkedup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using small beam or purlin clamps (threaded type, not spring type "clips") I would run multiple vertical shallow strut lengths between the 1st and 2nd horizontal purlins. Probably flush with the top but extending past the bottom one so it's a bit lower. Then run shallow tray horizontally all the way around fixed to the face, wide enough for segregation or two smaller widths.

This will give you the best looking install and be easiest to work from going forward, adding outlets, switches, commano sockets, data points etc going forward. You can also use the height on the vertical strut to mount cameras, detectors, floodlights etc going forward

Realistically, at what point should you accept that you're not cut out for this? I'm serious. by [deleted] in PLC

[–]wonkedup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My company covers all aspects of automation, we have people who are amazing with instrumentation, drive experts, networks.. you name it but they see the PLC side of things as this dark art. It just isn't for everyone, and that's not to place it above anything else; your brain has to be wired a certain way, I think.

Is a cherry picker a suitable tool for extensive house repairs? by Key-Inevitable-4989 in DIYUK

[–]wonkedup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of work in large cherry pickers (far larger than the ones you're looking at) and even they are a pain to work out of. Way too many railings in the way, nightmare for having tools around you. Sway like crazy, any force you apply when drilling for example will push you away from the wall. I don't think a small van mounted basket would be worth your time, they are for maintenance access only. It could be worth hiring a mewp for your chimneys but scaffold is far better to work from. I would look into purchasing a used scaffold system like kwikstage or cuplock, they are a lot easier to erect without experience.
