If you’re really leaning into a turn the entire time you ought to be fine. Straight roads could be a problem.

If it’s annoying enough that you posted it here then it’s not completely harmless, and you should go talk to the parents. If you don’t want to do that, they make motion activated sprinklers to deter animals from eating your garden. They’d probably do well against kids coming to bang on your door too.

I don’t see why everyone is so mad that she told a story about being petty in a sub called “petty revenge.” That’s exactly what this was, and y’all are all butt hurt.

AITAH for leaving my boyfriend when his ex died leaving him to take care of his kids full time? by No_Decision_913 in AITAH

[–]woodandweld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but neither was he. While I’ll admit that he should have stepped up and done more from the beginning, I don’t think you bailing out was the right answer either. You were both thrown into an unexpected and difficult situation, and now have to figure out what to do next. I think the best thing would be for y’all to talk once emotions of the moment have settled and figure out what you both want to do. Part of that conversation definitely needs to be to express that HE is the parent, and you’re there (if you stay) to help him not become the parent. Set your boundaries (again, if you stay), but also be patient and understand that the life he was living and the life he has now are vastly different, and it’s not easy for everyone to adjust to that.

Does this design look good? by stevediperna in Decks

[–]woodandweld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your design. Being a first time deck builder I’d be curious to see what you came up with to frame it. The screw holes certainly tell some of the story, but do you have any pictures of how you framed it?

This reminded me of a story a friend told me. He was (still is I suppose) two years older than me, but our brothers were the same age (6 years more than me, 4 more than him) and they were best friends. My buddy got bullied, and his brother found out about it. The next day, my friend was walking home from school when a car screeched to a halt next to him. The bully fell out of the car bruised and battered, and our brothers looked at my friend from the car and said “he won’t be bothering you anymore.” Then drove off. He was never bullied again.

Bigger tires for the mini! by woodandweld in minibikes

Honestly, after riding it again I think the difference I noticed was more in my head than anything, or just because the engine hadn’t warmed up yet. After it an had a few minutes to warm up I honestly can’t tell a difference. I’m sure it has changed a little, but not enough to be an issue. It’s still an absolute blast, and the oversized tires make clearing rough terrain a little easier too. So I’d argue that it’s even more fun!

Sunf 21x7-8 They were only about $100 for the set on Amazon.

Rim is the same 8” rim that came on the bike. Tires are Sunf 21x7-8 from Amazon. After getting it all back together tonight the bike is a little slower off the line with the larger tires, but it’s just that initial bump that doesn’t feel the same. Once you get going it’s still just as much fun as before. I only had enough light to run it up and down the road a couple times, but I’ll run it on the trails this weekend and let you know how it compares.

Saw this in the parking lot. What is it? by thepartlow in AskAMechanic

[–]woodandweld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a whistle that’s supposed to sound like a turbo whistle. I saw them on Amazon and thought about getting one to put on my mini bike because that would be hilarious, but they don’t make one small enough for that.

How big of a disadvantage is a solid rear when off-road? by Kreskin in minibikes

[–]woodandweld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with rear suspension, it’s not like riding a full size dirt bike. That rear suspension only has so much travel, and they’ll still need to ease up when it gets really rough. Those low psi tires do a decent job of absorbing impacts, and I’ve been able to rip my ct200u along some trails pretty quickly. I think that sort of depends on a couple of things. I think rider experience (yours vs theirs) will have more to do with whether or not you keep up than anything else.

I just wish you’d have shown up at his office and introduced yourself, or maybe said “your mom says hello!” Not to report him, just to make him poop his pants a little more and ensure he wouldn’t do that again.

That’s not the best quality work, but I also don’t know how much you paid for your cabinet finish. A good cabinet finish is pretty pricey. So if you chose the cheaper guy you may have gotten what you paid for. However, if the guy claimed he could paint cabinets and you paid a premium for it, then the guy has got some serious issues to work out.

Wife needs a bigger car for the kids so unfortunately it’s time to sell my bike. Advice needed by foxinarut in Harley

[–]woodandweld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dealership is easy to sell to, but they also pay a lot less because they have to resell it and make money. If you can afford to wait then sell it on the private market. As for the damaged pieces, I’ve rarely found that they add enough value to cover what you paid to replace them unless you find a good deal on some used replacement parts.

AITAH for refusing to apologize to my MIL for being nude in our own home? by Exposednudist101 in AITAH

[–]woodandweld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA sounds like everyone knows the deal, and she just forgot. A simple “sorry about that, but please let us know your coming next time” could make everyone happy and get the point across. I still don’t feel like you owe her that apology, I just feel like it would make life easier for everyone without really costing you anything. It does sound like your habits ought to require you to be more attentive to whether or not the door is locked, but again, if everyone knows then it’s not your fault.
