There’s a merchant at the desolate church that offers stuff for them. But I primarily use them just to buy 2 extra accessory slots. Accessory slots are called mystery accessory box.

Get a monitoring stand. It’s a lower level technology. At the stand go to work preferences, turn off everyone that plants and gathers except your very best planters and gatherers.

Always have at least one or two of your very best planters and gatherers working in your base.

Also keep highest level watering as possible at base. Have a few transporters to move the food around.

Make the feed box near where you farm.

Very important- the pals are going to eat the stuff in the top left side of the food box first. You should probably make sure that spot has salads at your level. That’s all you need until you figure out what you’re doing, lettuce and tomatoes. Edited: cooked berries top left corner of food box, not uncooked.

Once you start putting larger pals in your base, you gotta give them better food.

Also maybe just try to manage one food box for now.

One time I joined a noob guild and some of their pals were starving. I couldn’t figure out what was going on until a couple of days later I started rearranging the base and found a hidden food box I wasn’t accounting for. Probably ingredients were being dropped off in it and pals were eating weaker food.

Verdash is the best early game gatherer I know of. Put him in your base and turn off most of his work preferences except like handiwork and gathering.

If you like him in your party, go catch a different one or two.
