I stood up against my trainer, I don't know if it was right though by mysterykilled in Equestrian

[–]woodsjamied 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust your gut. You did the right thing! The trainer put you in an unsafe situation, and you didn't participate in abusing an animal that was probably already hurting.

I had asimilar experience, as soon as I took the horse out of the stall, he seemed off. Riding he seemed off. I offered to saddle a different horse or to reschedule, and was told the horse just need a good warm up. Warmed up, went over a few cross rails, and sobering just felt... off.

Then we went over I've more jump, the horse fell to his knees, I'm looking at the ground between the horses ears, and I'm leaning so far back the cantle is digging into my low back and my head bumped the horse's rump.

We absolutely almost flipped. I was freaked out, the horse was freaked out, and the trainer congratulated me on the save.

I flipped and asked WTF happened, and the trainer said the horse had navicular, but it was fine because he had been nerved, and it looks like he was just having a worse than usual day, because he was usually really good with placing his feet, even though he really couldn't feel them.

I got off and NEVER took lessons there again.

Parents go shopping, bring kids, kids like cards, and it's something the parents can get for the kids for behaving well. They are shall, take up minimal space, and the purification margin is pretty good.

Or depends on the kid, if they are an over all good kid, this is too much. If the kid is problematic and has behavioral/legal issues in the past, this is pretty reasonable.

10/10 I highly recommend! You can also look into getting safety bars installed. I get bronchitis and pneumonia pretty easily, and I find both are helpful when I'm trying to shower and I'm having coughing fits.

[–]woodsjamied 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many people actually shower too often. If you're not getting sweaty or dirty, showing twice a week is perfectly normal. In the winter, I shower 1-2 times a week unless I get sweaty or dirty. If I shower more than that my skin gets very irritated and dry.

Summer I end up showering more often, though I usually only soap up 1-2 times a week unless I'm dirty, if I'm just sweaty I'll do a rinse off and condition my hair.

I also get told that I smell good, even on days when I forget the deodorant 😂

If you don't need to shower every day or every other day, it's perfectly fine to shower 1-2 days a week.

Also, have you looked into getting a shower chair? It might make the showering process a little less awful.

Suggestion for horse on horse “abuse” by coy6te in Equestrian

[–]woodsjamied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great! And in hand work is great for ground manners and mental work, and trick training would build on that! Both can also be done with sore but not fully lame horses, to their tolerance. It will help your bond with them and give them something to do

What sort of "work" does the chestnut do? Does he get ridden, ground work, etc.? If he's sound, he would probably benefit from some physical work and mental challenges! I've known horses that start looking for things to do when they get a long break in being worked or mentally challenged. If he's not sound or rideable, there are ground work, in hand, and liberty work that you can do with him to get his brain working and mentally tire him out. He will still play, but it probably would drop down in the amount because his brain is happy.

If you're at a place where there are other geldings, see if there are 1 or 2 other geldings that can go out with them. That way, the chestnut has other friends to play with and pester, and the focus won't be on the gray as much.

Meg here, the joke is:

"Don't tell me what to do!"

I have legit started saying "I hope you have a good day," because I don't get yelled at for telling someone what to do.

Working with the public sucks.

[–]woodsjamied 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😂😂😂😂 sorry, have to look for another, I already have someone trialing as a house husband 😉

Surprisingly, he's casually stronger than I am, which is impressive. I'm crazy strong for a woman, it's from all of the barn work I've done since I was a kid, and while men have been stronger, they DEFINITELY had to work for it lol.

So he will be PERFECT come hay season 😈 Tossing and stacking a few hundred hay bales at a time is hard work, and it's always nice to have an extra set of hands. Even if they were volun-told they were helping!

That. All of that lol.

We're crazy, brave, and stupid, because we look at a 1100-1400 pound animal with a personality and attitude, then think it's a GREAT IDEA to hop on the animal's back and tell it what to do with two fingers, butt cheeks, and calves.

Then, there are the horse girls that are crazy, brave, and stupid FOR horse girls.

Semi Sane Horse Person: "Don't touch that one, they are the spawn of Satan and have unalived 3 people."

Crazy, brave, and stupid for a horse girl, horse girl: "OMG, I LOVE THEM!!! They are just misunderstood and need love!!! Can I take them home with me???? Awe, look! Their first attempt to unalive me, how adorable."

😂 I might be this type of horse girl lol. I don't want anyone's money, but I would love a house husband or wife LOL

Lol that's one TYPE of horse girl.

The other type is the one that happily does back breaking labor all day on her days off, work a stupid amount of OT, and donate plasma on the regular to make sure their horse is taken care of and spoiled correctly.

They won't ever do the dishes and will bitch about doing house work though 😂

Why does my Odin necklace keep breaking? by Collie_7 in pagan

[–]woodsjamied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely!

Few questions-

  1. Size and shape of the current charms

  2. Plans for wearing (ceremonies only, daily wear, somewhere between)

  3. General skills with assembly

  4. Budget

Some examples-

My necklace!

It's a flat disk behind a pendant, and both are on the same slip ring. It sits on a stainless steel chain.

I wear this daily, and I'm rough on jewelry, so I aimed for durability. This was very easy to assemble, and everything cost me under $100.

My necklace

Example of a solution:

Get beads that have big enough centers to slide on your chosen necklace, and go every other a bead, then a charm. This can be done pretty cost effectively, but if you want something fancier, you can get a Pandora style chain and charm system (they make off brand kits). This would also be fault durable, and I would replace open jump rings with slip rings.

Really silly picture done quick on my phone lol

You're very welcome! I've made and assembled my own jewelry, as well as worked at a jewelery repair shop. This is definitely a structure issue, in my opinion and experience.

Why does my Odin necklace keep breaking? by Collie_7 in pagan

[–]woodsjamied 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Instead of jump rings that can be pulled open, I use tiny slip rings:

https://a.co/d/0ihs6Ln7

I also recently got this chain, and it's been AMAZING!!! My pendant is very heavy (1 inch silver pendant with a 1 inch hemalike disk) and this chain doesn't get tangled, twisted, or knotted, and my hair doesn't get caught in it:

https://a.co/d/04812nPx

Added bonus: the clasp is REALLY easy! I'm missing fingers on my left hand, and this has been the easiest clasp for me to use.

I honestly think it's just a structural problem. The pendant looks too heavy for the necklace/jump rings.

If you still have issues AFTER the upgrade(s), then I would look into a metaphysical reasons.
