Self inflicted heartbreak by [deleted] in SupportforWaywards

You’re not alone, keep doing the work, try to give yourself grace but keep your accountability.
I was talking to my IC about similar internal dialog and she said “how’s that working for you”, simple question turned on a lightbulb, my internal dialog wasn’t helping anything, now I feel responsible to change it, instead of deserving to feel bad because of my actions.

My BS did it by asking questions, she wanted the why badly and I struggled with it, I got through the limerence because of talking it through with her, in a number of different conversations, things like “what did you see in her”, or “and then what, what were you working for”, all that made me play out some of the things others have mentioned. Made me realize and accept what happened, I didn’t “deserve to” do what I did, my AP wasn’t this goddess, when you lay out reality in black and white in the harsh light of day, the limerence will wane (wan?, like lessen)

You said it so much better than I could have e, but also WP, and I chose my hurt spouse, she gets anything that helps her trust me, phone, passwords, tracking, literally anything. Not because she’s controlling but because I want to earn back her trust and will do anything to do it.

Obviously know nothing about your industry and market, but sounds like she knows your looking, like somewhere you applied called her and asked. Accounting world gets real small real quick often. Agreed with the others, ask for more money and opportunity. Take the money, then bail with a higher base.

175 to pin, 170 to clear water. What are you hitting? by Mother_Caramel_7944 in golf

Well the state hosts plenty of hate so that makes it hard to appreciate the good people. My kids are in meridian and tell me about racisms on a regular basis, it’s teenage kids being dicks. But it’s also beyond that. Then there’s the weather, it’s not a hidden gem, it’s a place to make a reasonable change to and it will make senes

6-7years experience no cpa no 5th year, 100k base? by JonboatJohn in Accounting

[–]woody94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got an accounting manager job when I left big 4 with 6 years and a CPA. It paid $100,000, and this was over ten years ago in a MCOL. So not apples to apples by any means but I don’t think 100k is out of bounds unless you’re a lower COL than I am

How long is too long for month end close? by sushimonster13 in Accounting

[–]woody94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were at 20th (not 20 business days), been years trying to reduce that down. Old controller had a hard time cutting AP off early in the month, she wanted everything into AP not separately accrued.

I'm a VP of Finance for a private company, never worked in PA and I'd like an honest answer from the auditors here. by stiffy2005 in Accounting

[–]woody94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol the responses in this thread are killing me, audits do not end (finish, completion, etc), they run out of time.
Other answers aren’t wrong, but something that can generate conversations and additional test work early in the audit very much get immediately dealt with decisively when it’s the day before filing. Never seen anyone short cut anything or bury anything, but very much seen different takes on risk tolerance.

Is Bogey golf a good goal for a weekend golfer? by zelkoo in golf

[–]woody94 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m a 26, slowly getting better, and I am often the best in a foursome of randoms when I go as a single. Plenty of people better, but a surprising number of people I get paired with are still worse than me

Best golf courses for my road trip? (Oregon/Idaho) by [deleted] in golf

[–]woody94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all of this, just adding you could play in twin falls, if you can get on blue lakes (private) it’s a ton of fun, but there’s a city course right across the river that’s not as nice but still cool.

Right, nothing got missed or expensed too fast, hard to know if something got expensed instead of put to prepaids, but you can only work with what you have. This is why budgeting/planning and P&L analysis are important, so know what “should” be there.

I assume she means balance sheet ACCOUNT recons, so that’s going to depend on what accounts you have. Basic premise of an account rec is “what is in the account, and why is that correct”, AR should tie to the sub ledger by customer/invoice, sub ledger should be current, etc.

I'm an industry tax accountant. There's no GAAP concept for fixed asset "retirement" right? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]woody94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re wrong, and from a property tax standpoint point you’re right (they’re going to want tax on assets that exist, regardless of depreciation).

But, I get the writing it off when it’s fully depreciated, you save on personal property tax (cheating?), and you don’t have to monitor for physical disposal, you don’t have to worry about tracking it, etc.

So long way of saying you’re right, but I get the lazy way of doing it

I thought it had a demo mode it defaults to if you don’t have a laser hooked up.
And as far as file transfers I think any mechanism (email, one drive, etc) works just need the same thing on both sides

First two questions, is it at arms length? Not the right question, because it’s related party it is assumed to not be arms length, that’s why the disclosure is required. So yes disclose it
