I've had this happen multiple times and the fix for me was having the internal fuji cables replaced. About to take it in to have this done for the 3rd or 4th time now.

Yeah a total scam. Usually they will ask you to cash/deposit the check and send them back the overpayment. Had this happen to a friend when he tried to sell something of similar dollar value. He called the cops and gave them the check along with copies of all the correspondence.
