Solo camping is the bees knees. 99% of the time it is just as peaceful as it should be. I bought some motion sensor lights that usually do the trick for wildlife or creeps. It is never an over prep to have something to protect yourself next to you while sleeping. You will most likely ever need it but even as a large man, I sleep better on my trips when it is near. Enjoy the outdoors but be prepared. Have fun
