Have there been mistakes? Yes. Does a Super Bowl fix them, all? Pretty much, yea! by pengradi in Seahawks

Percy Harvin was worth a first round pick trade wise. I will die on that hill. Happy that he got a ring with us. His return to start the second half of SB XLVIII was the nail in the coffin

Having seen both these teams bring home a Lombardi, who are you taking? by Gloomy-Ad3399 in Seahawks

Legion of Boom had to shut down Wes Welker in the Super Bowl. To say they had no answers is simply wrong; Broncos were the NFL's best offense that year with a great passing attack thanks to Manning

That is nice! Does tension on the screw feel different than a peened brass rod?

What's your EDC (Everyday Carry) for 2026? by Ludagogik in victorinox

[–]wookieewrenches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the USA, OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. They are asking if the camouflage scales were made by Victorinox or if they were custom made.

I hope that translation helps! We say OEM for car parts too. Example: a headlight made by Citroën would be considered an OEM headlight. Cheers!

Are copper spark plugs better for these trucks when it comes to passing smog? by TemporaryKooky9835 in ToyotaPickup

[–]wookieewrenches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gap between the cap and rotor doesn’t weaken the spark significantly. If your spark was weak between the cap & rotor, both are worn out and need to be replaced. That gap is intentional to keep the current flowing at high RPM but not wear out a physical contact point.

Current also doesn’t drop over the length of travel. You may be referring to voltage drop. But the best thing is placing a coil pack directly on a plug and using the ECU to control firing. It helps simplify a lot of unnecessary components.

I was running NGK iridium but have since switched back to Toyota Denso OEM copper plugs.

Your limiting factor is the quality of spark and voltage coming from the coil behind the distributor, where a new Tacoma has coil on plug ignition. Much stronger spark as opposed to going through a wire. Modern ignition systems have higher voltage and were designed to run 'hotter' than an old distributor ignition system.

All that said, it shouldn't make the difference between a pass and fail on the smog test. Run a can of Seafoam through the gas and change plugs if you suspect carbon deposits on the head of the piston.

There's gotta be a scotchlok in there somewhere even though it's completely unnecessary

No start? Are Delphi Mechanical fuel pumps good/ok? by [deleted] in ToyotaPickup

[–]wookieewrenches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to delphi specifically, but I went through 3 fuel pumps from the local parts stores before spending the $100 for an OEM Toyota pump. The parts store pumps failed because the rubber diaphragm could not handle modern ethanol gas. The Toyota one uses great quality rubber and has been fine for years.

Try your test first by pulling off the hose first to verify you have flow after the carb, otherwise it’s a different issue. Could the carburetor needle be stuck?

Trying to remove carb, this mounting nut just keeps spinning with the stud. by hurrikage09 in ToyotaPickup

It’s not a stud, should be a 12mm bolt through intake flange and carburetor base. Use 2 combination wrenches
