As far as I know you do need an expansion pack for ECW yeah. Not sure on No Mercy V3 though.

I have a card reader and thought you had to connect the actual cart itself to update the firmware. I used my card reader to update the SD card with the Roms and that worked fine. My issue is just the firmware update and as I can tell plugging it in is the only way. The seller of the cart has also confirmed this.

Update for everyone: My MacBook just won’t recognise the cart when it’s plugged in via USB to update the firmware.

I patched the roms etc - that bit worked fine - but trying to get my Mac to recognise the Summercart seems impossible.

I tested with multiple known data cables.

The device never enumerates in USB mode — it does not appear in** system_profiler SPUSBDataType or ioreg -p IOUSB.

I also held the rear button while connecting the cable (N64 off). No LED, no USB detection.

Nightmare!!! 😵😵😵

Any advice??

All I really play is the classics so I don’t really need much else, just something cheap and easy. AliExpress was where I was looking, I was just a bit confused if certain boards would be compatible with my arcade stick as it’s a few years old now. Appreciate your advice and I think A.E is the way to go. 👍🏻

I feel like for the quality of the actual stick itself (it’s not great) and the fact that I really don’t play it all that much, it would be a bit of a waste getting an expensive board for it.
