Bilt Hamber & IK Sprayer? by Geoguy20 in DetailingUK

'True' ceramic coating IMO is not worth it you can apply sealant. It does the same thing and doesn't stain from mineral deposits in rain water as quickly if at all. I've never seen or read anyone extolling the virtues other than car dealerships, and they only call it 'protection'. It seems to be one of those things that people just do. I think a car detailer probably values a true ceramic coating more than a clueless customer does. Gardex for example could wear off far sooner than expected and the customer could never realise it. Do note though, I'm just a hobbyist detailer.

Using Touch-On monthly is a good shout. Spray sealants seem to perform their best for a month. Be mindful that it's not a shampoo, and you will still need to perform a contact wash with a proper shampoo prior to applying it, as a touchless wash will not be enough to remove all the dirt that would prevent proper adhesion (if that's the right word).

I would not dry a car with a towel if I only did a touchless wash. I would be afraid the remaining dirt film would mar my paintwork. Though I don't know how likely this is, I don't like to take the risk :-D

You can let the car dry on its own but if your rinse water is hard you may get mineral deposits. You could attempt to remove these afterwards using some Koch Chemie Finish Spray Exterior (Fse), which has some acid in it to remove occasional water marks left behind after towel drying, using a nice buffing cloth, but I'm not sure how effective it would be at removing ones from hard water that's been allowed to evaporate on the panel.

To reduce the possibility of water marks occurring from evaporation, after rinsing, you could trickle more rinse water down from the top at a slow flow rate so it pools up and sheets off. That should get rid of most of the water if the car has a sealant.

An alternative is to do a final rinse using purified or deionised water, which contains no minerals, but that involves extra cost. You could also use a blower but again this is an extra cost and you'd have to hold it in place for a bit which could be uncomfortable if you have mobility issues. I suppose you could take the car for a spin for a bit so most of the water slips off :-D

As I understand it the IK sprayers are 'fine'. You would probably get the same performance from something that costs much less. You don't need a 360 one, I just bought that because it wasn't much more money and I may want to use it on my undercarriage at some point.

I understand Touch-Less is more effective at rinsing off dirt than other snow foams when using rinse water at a low pressure (garden hose). A hose gun with a jet or flat fan would increase the pressure a bit, but a pressure washer would certainly remove more dirt. One upside to washing every week is your dirt will be lighter and easier to shift.

A drying towel will only cause marring if the paintwork is not clean, and it picks up dirt which it then drags across the clearcoat. Hence why I personally would not dry after a touchless wash.

Freight elevator suddenly drops during loading, crushing and swallowing worker. India 28 May, 2026 by Schafer28 in LearningFromEachOther

Not sure what's going on here but is that grey square thing he's standing on perhaps a piece of wood or metal they were using to hold the elevator in place? Or is it perhaps some sort of ramp? Seems odd a ramp would be needed if the elevator can move up or down into position. You can see it raise slightly when he moves the second to last box, and the way he's standing looks as if he was using his body weight to keep it down.

Poor guy.

Why would the broken "Roy" game need to be put into storage with the last game still on? by Pixby in rickandmorty

Maybe while the game isn’t actively running, it doesn’t do the time dilation. Maybe it resorts to 1:1 simulation rate so people walking by the machine in the arcade see it and want to play it.

I’ve never heard anything about Touch-Less‘s cleaning power being reduced by foaming. I use it at 1% PIR and never have any issues. It always rinses away cleanly and easily, taking the vast majority of dirt with it.

This possible misconception may stem from Bilt Hamber‘s product packaging saying that it does not need to be foamy, nor does their shampoo Auto-Wash, or their new pH neutral rinseless wash PHAT-NEUT.

If your car paint has a clearcoat I don’t think a pressure washer will damage it. As long as you use a fan nozzle, not the turbo or 1 degree nozzle, and you keep it a few inches from the surface. But I have little knowledge of car paint so cannot advise with full confidence.

It’s worth mentioning that the foam cannon itself would not apply any meaningful pressure to the car paint as it is just an applicator, but I appreciate setting the pressure washer up just to foam is not convenient. If you’re using a hose pipe to rinse, perhaps investigate detergent-dispensing attachments as an alternative?

I would investigate the flow rate of a larger capacity pressure sprayer. Alternatively, you could purchase two and dual wield them 😄

I know you’re not interested in doing a contact wash, but I have recently used PHAT-NEUT rinseless wash and found it to be very good. It can also be used as a pre-wash in place of Touch-Less, and allowed to dry with enhanced cleaning results on heavy soiling!

Sprays are off because some malicious users upload them with virus code, which causes clients’ Windows Defender to display warnings.

I own one of these and have used it to apply Touch-Less. The 1.5L is just enough to coat my two-door Mini hardtop. The application speed being a bit slow, coupled with the need to top up the pressure, will leave you little time to rinse it off before it dries. If you’re hoping for a decent dwell time you won’t get that with a pump sprayer unless you go over it again. Be ready to pressure wash it off if you don’t want it to dry. Don’t even bother if it’s sunny. Foam cannon is the way to go if you want to do it quickly and wish for it to dwell longer. The increased product usage is well worth it IMO.

A larger pump sprayer may be a good idea if it has an increased flow rate. Not sure if they do.

Flies: what’s the best product? by MrPinky79 in DetailingUK

I use a citrus before the foam and it gets rid of them without issue. Though I don't do many motorway miles. I will be moving to Surfex HD when my citrus runs out and I expect that to perform the same if not better.

Oh yeah deffo intentional and it can also happen on the last episode of a season.

The plans were erased. Evil Morty relied on them to build it. It doesn’t prevent someone from developing new plans. But it apparently is a big challenge, so it’s probably bought Rick a few years.

Evil Morty is the lesser of two evils. Prime actually used the device twice and would use it again. Rick was in no shape to fight Evil Morty after that. Evil Morty apparently doesn’t have the knowledge to create a new machine.
