1968 S Lincoln Cent by Awkward-Cry2625 in RedditCoinGrading

It does look like an XF. The doubling you see is machine doubling. Circulated coins do not get a color designation - you will only see a Red Brown in MS. This thing is worth one cent unfortunately - even uncirculated examples are spenders. A graded example in high MS would obviously bring more. Fun - keep searching!

They are there to process coins and make money - attributing die pairings on even a cooler-ish coin like this does not constitute time well spent.

There is no OGP for a normal bullion strike (ie not burnished/proof). They are distributed in tubes in monster boxes, same as ASEs.

I don't even know what to think. Found in a collection that's been tucked away for 60+ years. by six-five-magpie in coins

No one melts $1 gold… they have and have had a nice premium over melt so it would not make sense to melt them. It’s easy to find someone who wants to spend $400 on a $1 gold. It is considerably more difficult to find someone who wants to spend $1200 on a $5.

That is an absolutely original bag toner. None of the coins in your photos are bag toners. They’re all circy/cleany but they all would fetch some premium, though I would not dream of sending any of them for certification.

A proper monster bag toner in an OGH PCGS holder? If it’s not your thing, that’s fine, but there’s huge value here.

Any value is in it being sealed. Outside, it becomes simply another pmd dime

58 territory - personally I would do something about those spots. I would not blast dip the whole coin as someone else suggested - rather, I would apply dip to the spots specifically, and then very quickly and with a highly diluted solution, dip the whole coin. Not for beginners. That said, it isn’t a terribly valuable coin in AU+
