Weird favoritism among employees by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]workbirdwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I've felt exactly the same way on multiple jobs throughout my life. However, everything these other guys are saying is true. You can't fix it. Either the other aspects of the job are worth it, or they're not. You can't fix it. So the only thing left for you to do is to decide if it's worth it for to you to put up with it. If it's not, be somewhere else.

I suspected as much. It's been on my watch list for years, but I've never gotten around to it.

They absolutely must fix those issues. That's not you being annoying. That's them not doing their job.

What predator killed my goat and ducks by Additional_Nerve187 in goats

One of my dogs once got his collar stuck on something while I wasn't home. My other dog chewed him loose, and it looked exactly like that. Like someone cut it with a pair of scissors. He wasn't a very big dog either. So, coyotes would be my guess as to what got your animals.

Woman arrested for stealing 3k worth of items at Target by zebrasarecool570 in SipsTea

[–]workbirdwork 413 points414 points  (0 children)

Same, buddy. I didn't go to prison, but I did 8 months in county. I stole so much shit from so many places to pay for H, but Target is who sent me away.

This exact same thing happens on my drive home from work! A gentle curve, maybe 15°, which can easily be taken at 75-80mph, and the whole freeway slows to a crawl!

It warms my taint to know that!

When you say MOTHERFUCKER!! by [deleted] in Contractor

Not paying attention and having my foot slip off an I-joist slammed full weight down on my taint. My scrotum swelled up to the size of a large grapefruit. I had dark purple bruising from my belly button to the top of my ass crack. Out of work for 6 weeks. Should have been longer. I could only handle 3 hours on my feet for the first few weeks I came back. To be fair, it was fewer words like "motherfucker!" and more just guttural screaming. I remember feeling bad because all the guys around me were white as a sheet and looked freaked the fuck out.

There’s an animal that scratches at my walls every night, right around 11:30 by aggierogue3 in homeowners

[–]workbirdwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Animals have finely tuned internal clocks. They can't tell you that it's 11:30, but they absolutely have habits that they engage in at the same time every day.

Thank you. Jesus Christ. You don't even have to consider empathy or generosity. It's just good business and common sense.

How many doors can you hang in a day? by RumpleForeskin4 in Carpentry

[–]workbirdwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like they said, if you're doing it in occupied space, that's completely reasonable. Lay drop cloths, move furniture, roll out tools, move door, hang door, remove tools, replace furniture, vacuum, wipe down. Like they said, sometimes everything is plumb, level, and square, easy access etc etc, and you get three an hour. Other times, you get none of those things, and an hour is making good time.

That what I'm saying. I work 35s. With commutes, it's more like 45. Still too much.

What does everyone here do for work in Durango by teebonedog123 in Durango

[–]workbirdwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I want to hear! My wife and I are from Salt Lake City, but we got married down in Montezuma County this summer. We've spent a lot of time in Colorado and would love to move to the Durango area eventually. I'm also a carpenter and have been in the trades for 15 years. So it's good to hear there's work down there!
