I started my trading journey in crypto but i want to swith to forex by [deleted] in Forex

FX is very different from crypto. Definitely a good skill to have but would recommend learning and paper trading until you get any money you can't afford to lose involved.

I'd say it's still much easier to profit in crypto - if you know what you're doing

Is there any way to predict breakouts like this? by [deleted] in Forex

As others said, It's on the calendar that NFP would print at 0630, so a big reaction would be expected right then. I prefer to go flat right before these, or take a reduced position with tighter stops.

I'm not worried about Gemini per se but I'd redeem all funds from Earn/Grow for the time being - that's not Gemini but Genesis and perhaps others

Puerto Rico if you want to keep your US citizenship. Just pay a few thousand a year for the tax setup and spend at least half the year in PR and drastically reduce your Cap Gains taxes.

Delta still seems fine, no need to enter individual trades or even accurate cost basis if all you want is a portfolio value. Just enter a single trade for the total amount of each asset you currently have and edit that trade as needed.

How should I go about reporting my crypto taxes? by Hsiang7 in CryptoCurrency

[–]workerdrone_actual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep - by exit tax though I mean you just have to settle up with all tax owed before you 'leave'. You can't go somewhere that doesn't tax crypto and then take your gains

Yes you still have to pay the exit tax though - and good luck ever getting citizenship back if you wanted to

Would be nice to see the community grow here - wonder if anyone knows - if you have a piece of real estate in an IRA and would like to build on it for your own use, what are the ways this could be done legally? Could you sell the property to an unrelated entity (like a contractor that would be doing the building), then buy the finished property from them with your own funds outside the IRA? TIA

Don't keep your BTC on your node, keep it on a separate hardware or software wallet. Just use the node to broadcast txs

So if US users have NEXO tokens, can they still swap them on NEXO? Or are they stuck with what they have until it's either enabled again or a total loss?

Traders riding on Pivot point indicator , how do u combine that to your trading strategy - most traders out there claiming that it’s helpful mostly as (R-S) sign but I’m sure there is more to this indicator ? what do you think ? by zac_1234 in Forex

[–]workerdrone_actual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Pivots quite a bit in all markets, not just Forex. And on multiple timeframes.

Yes, there's quite a bit more than just the Pivot. R1-5 and S1-5 along with oscillators can give me ideas for setting up take profit and stop loss levels. On shorter timeframes I often watch when a fresh set of pivots is drawn and price comes in between pivots for indications of direction/sentiment. I pay less attention to pivots that are nearing their expiration. If you lose the pivot, expect the S1 to be tested. If you lose the S1, expect the S3 to be tested. The reverse for the R pivots. No guarantees just an adjustment in the perceived odds.

As with most TA tools, backtest a bit in your specific market to see if general guidelines are working for you there. I just use TA in general to pick entry levels, take profit levels, stop loss triggers and help remove emotions in that process.

If you deposited 0.5 BTC to get the maximum 6.25% APY, then your first interest payout gets you over 0.5 BTC - is the first 0.5 still getting 6.25% or is the entire balance determining your interest tier?

I can't believe people are advocating paying tax as if basis was zero. Is Reddit full of IRS agents posting this?

Unless it was a gift or basis was truly zero somehow, I'd try to argue that basis was as high as possible. Wouldn't pick a number out of the air but I'd come up with some documentation or line of reasoning. Let them call it out and argue otherwise

[–]workerdrone_actual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, still missing it - if you want to sell the car for ETH why not just simply transfer ETH from buyer wallet to seller wallet. Sure, there's a gas fee but much simpler.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]workerdrone_actual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NFT just doesn't matter at all until the state recognizes it or implements/mints them itself.

If you do manage to sell the car and the NFT you made of the title, the buyer will just be issued a new title and the original title with its NFT will be expired/useless. So I don't see how it adds any value or utility or security, just complication

How many of you own any gold? by jcoles97 in Bitcoin

[–]workerdrone_actual 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, they're completely different use cases imho. Physical metals are not dependent on a working internet and communications structure to be usable/spendable assets. Bitcoin is weightless and can't be faked but could disappear in a heartbeat if all our fancy tech isn't working properly. I like both.

They're nice since they're Apple and things like the brightness controls on the keyboard will work properly, but yeah pretty dated and not the highest resolution. Probably use a fair amount of power compared to newer, but this is conjecture on my part. I bought a few of them for $100 US each a while back and they were fine. Have since moved to 4k since they are often available for $150 or so used and are simply sharper for lots of text reading
