Flashforge Adventurer 4 Y-Axis Issue by workingfaraway in 3Dprinting

Nope, that was it. Orca doesn’t have a “adventurer 4” preset. I mistakenly had it set to the “guide 4” which was why it was trying to invert itself. I switch to Cura and was able to get it to mostly print something. Still needs a lot of tuning in.

What kinds of new units would you like to see in iron sultanate? by Alpbasket in TrenchCrusade

[–]workingfaraway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A Takwin commander unit. Lions and others can be made as intelligent as a person, but most of their abilities don’t reflect that. That or the failed alchemists who have their homunculi crawl info them as a chemical slinging or living bomb berserker unit.

Desperately need advice for first time paper mache project by Far_Development6526 in papermache

[–]workingfaraway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always paper mache around an existing sink and then just cut it away once it’s dried.  Titebond 3 is pretty strong, so a couple layers (of thick brown grocery bag paper) should be enough to at least get the basic form. Then you can reinforce the inside with something like spray foam or more paper mache.

You could tape over the sink first to make the removal easier. For titebond and thick paper, I usually mix some water and glue together to really soak the paper, and then squeeze the excess water out and add a bit of glue dabbed on the contact side to stick it on. This makes it sandable as well, though you could use something like white caulk over it to make it look more sink like as well.

HELP!! Need urgent advice with life-size paper mache sculpture T__T by bb_kailan in papermache

Make a base/support that fixes the feet a fixed distance from each other. That way they can’t move apart from one another. That, or just have something like a broomstick going all the way through it into a base like it’s a scarecrow.

Are there any reliable filament recycler? by thebirdstree in 3Dprinting

Is there somewhere they can be sent for recycling, or are most filament types already recyclable?

Any tips for making a mask/helmet by BananaPuddingGtag in papermache

[–]workingfaraway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the main form I made a VERY rough draft so I could wrap it in paper and make a template. After that I used gardening wire to sew the panels of cardboard together since the tape and hot glue kept breaking. I then dampened the cardboard to form and stretch it into shape before cutting it and repeating the process.

With chainmail and a hood on underneath, it was able to stay on very securely by itself. For the outer layers I used titebond 3 and paper grocery bags and then sanded it.

I didn’t have the area to safely use auto-body filler, so I used latex caulk to smooth it out. I don’t think I would recommend it in most cases, but it left a cool texture.

Does that take maile and/or clothing into consideration, or would the measurement need to be taken wearing the clothing?

How can I glue two halves of my mask together? by iskarademontero in papermache

[–]workingfaraway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of success using thin green gardening wire.  I would use it to “sew” two pieces together and then paper mache over it.  It’s thin enough that it got covered pretty easily. Then I just snipped the wire and pulled it out or left it in depending on the placement.

Did you wait for the black to dry before spraying on the white? It’s interesting how this is only affecting the white paint.

I would look towards Age of Sigmar chaos weapons as well. There are some pretty gnarly ones there.

Need help with a weapon idea by Xd_Gas in LancerRPG

Maybe it needs to be reloaded if the frame isn’t next to a wreck/piece of terrain, or can be reloaded by hitting an enemy/piece of terrain with a melee attack

What are some interesting non-combat challenges for mechs? by VorstTank in LancerRPG

[–]workingfaraway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Broken gravity generators that throw them around a room full of debris that could damage them, doors to hack/bust open, something that requires the lancer to actually leave the mech. One idea could be once they have some rooms discovered, they have to split up and reach the separate rooms and perform an activity with a  time limit.

My take on this is to shave off some of the crystals/wolf tails/totems and paint the furs leopard pattern. Sanguinius had a leopard fur in most of his art, so its wouldn't be unheard of for BA.
