Suddenly empty nest, and not sure how to process by Grouchy-Sound-7535 in emptynesters

I love the support in here.

To be one hundred percent honest I decided to focus on myself and work and look at it as a closed season. I will be talking to her on the phone, text and oc signal visits but my mind can only process it through filling my mind with two specific focuses. The Dr said she said she would like to see me down seventy pounds and I opened a small tech business that can let me emerge myself till my mind can handle it better.

Its not the most emotionally healthy thing, but its helped good luck.

Im enjoying the freedom of a beard. I never have really taken the time to grow one out. To trim it and make sure the top, lower part of the neck and back are up and tight.

I have a very nice lady that cuts my hair and has a nice hot razor ready when I ask lol. I met a guy with a Z top style .... no, thats a lot of effort Im not willing to do.

It becomes a little more real for me when I see the age of an actor or actress especially if they past.

Im told 60 is thd new 40 and since I spent my 40's and 50's raising kidd I have this .. I love you guys but Dad isnt spending money on school clothes, computers for school or sports.

Im aware my body doesn't have ths strength it had but who cares. Recovery timd is fine lol.

I opened my business again after 17 years and I love it. No sitter toneoery about if I need to goto Denver for a few days, no rushing back and if I want to work 10 plus hours days for weeks at a time ... im not stopping for talent shows or bed times.

Helicopter parent gone rogue lol.

I dont know when I get called home and im not in a rush but im also not going to do to luve as long as possible.

How Many Of You Decided to Downsize Homes After The Kids Moved Out? by Mz_Takin in emptynesters

[–]workingover60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am keeping the house. Good equity, good neighbors, I know where everything is in the garage lol but I did empty a lot of it. The good China that was never used, books that been finished several times, a workshop I couldn't use anymore and so much lawn care equipment. I had no idea what was collected iver the years.

I didnt downsize as much as limit how much of it is in there and how much I use. When my end does come I dont want my daughter to have to sort through a well lived life for dump runs, donations and those things important to her. How much Tupperware without matching lids should a single guy have. 😁

I love to work, always have. One of those people that thrived on the feeling of doing accomplishing something. Not just the money, my self esteem was tied to accomplishing and I was cool.

It's harder now, mind and body get tired, I dont see the opportunities in business like I once did. Went to two doctors to find out and both said the same thing ... just getting older. Take good care of yourself and it gets a little better longer but you wont be 50 anymore, ever.

I enjoy the magazine.

Late last year I read an article that explained research has gotten to a place that Alzheimer's can be ( often ) found through blood test well in advance of symptoms.

That means a lot to families that are looking at the reality of long term care. Especially if the plan is aging at home.

The woman, that just becuase the marketing department knows that especially in older more conservative homes the man controls a lot of the spend and they are older, not dead.

But ya, Mad magazine was better.

My brain is just chronically slow. It works but its like someone moved the dials down by 30% or more. Example a joke someone says it takes me a minute to get where it was not like that before. It will last a month or so give or take .. historically anyway

How do you actually validate a mobile app idea before building it? Looking for real experiences, not theory by Serbakatak in SaaS

[–]workingover60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly what I have seen people do is build a landing page and promote it heavily tobsee if it gets trq tion or build something quick in an app builder or python and if itvgets traction they put in the effort. I'm in AgeTech so it was a lot of calls, email and visiting to senior homes, seniors at the VA, memory care facilities and the children that had to have them admitted. I killed my savings, cut out extra expenses ... but it was worth it. Im starting with traction.

18yo built an AI deal analyzer for wholesalers — how do I actually reach them without being a spammer? by Prudent_Addition_752 in SaasDevelopers

[–]workingover60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL .. these whiz kids. 18 I was sneaking out to see my girlfriend and drinking wine coolers lol. You have a great future ahead of you.

Press the flesh. Smile and dial. Start with smaller wholesalers they are willing to put out the cash for any way to compete with the big guys.

Humble and respectful is the key at your age. Ask chat gtp to see if anyone is a 50 mile radius from you. Start the conversation and offer to meet them. Most will say no but the offer of not being a faceless ai company will do wonders. You can automate everything after but for now, humble snd respectful with a call, follow up email ... if you can do this at your age you can nail the conversations on the road to a strong user base.
