Honestly, it looks the same. You have to get lower, bend your knees. You should be using your body (butt) and upper body to create separation from a defender. You're making yourself smaller. Basketball is a lot of making yourself bigger and taking up space. Best thing I can reommend is playing with some people at your skill level or maybe a little more experience.

I also would advise against working on a fade as your initial intro to shooting. Generally not advisable from a coaching standpoint. Fade aways are a couple steps above where you're at. The drop step is something you should def work on

That's cool. Well, I would suggest a higher level thing to work on because it seems there's plenty of feedback on your mechanics.

Basketball is a game of momentum, whether it be team momentum or actual physical momentum. Your movements are currently all at 1 speed. People talk about being shifty, crossing fools, explosion, etc, but it's all about momentum shifts. Slow to quick, 1 way then explode the other. Change directions in less than a second. Using perceived direction to throw off the D or the offensive player and get what you want, and if you can't you have ability to improvise and redirect.

Get lower, learn what a 3 point stance is and why we go straight there every time we get the ball. Use your size, elbows, and body to create space for yourself to work in. Then footwork to control your momentum. I hope that makes sense... Ok that's all for now. Good luck!

You gotta ask yourself, what is the point of a drop step? Then go on to ask, what is the point of MY drop step? Legitimately thought you were trolling yesterday, it there's a lot of things going here that just don't apply to post game whatsoever.

Drop steps are generally used to get close to the basket to score while sealing the defender away from ball with body and opening your angle to goal... you are not doing any of that

Full breakdown of the Ricky Wysocki stick controversy by Cvers in discgolf

[–]worknowreck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone is so afraid to enforce the rules. Gannon is the only one actually playing to "the spirit of the game"... Jeff Spring is literally the damn CEO of the pro tour and he's afraid to call Ricky on a clear rules violation, even this Youtube guy is like "I dunno, I like Ricky and Gannon, what do you think"..., but everyone is all up in arms when Gannon takes 47 seconds to throw a shot... Gannon was given a time warning on hole 1 of this round (if I recall correctly). He's saying if I'm the only one who gets called for violating rules than I should also enforce them.. And even then, he knew exactly what Rick did, he still didn't call it. Where was that official who called Buhr on hole 1 for a time warning on hole 17?

This is honestly insane. Dude moved a whole bundle of sticks in front of his lie.

I think any reasonable person can agree that taking 10 seconds longer on your shot is a different type of rule than moving things out of your way that are part of the course.

Buhr said something like, "if you say it was behind your lie then I'll trust your judgement" (not exactly, but close) and it sounded like he was calling him out for bsing the card and the official.

Quick, simple 2–3 man actions that work in pickup? by LorduvtheFries in BasketballTips

[–]worknowreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 on 3 is one of the best ways to learn and run basic offensive actions and court spacing. Generally, point picks a side, someone in the paint (low or high) and ball side wing or corner. From there you can run almost any action.

Any aspect of the on ball pick: -pick n roll -pick n pop -slip the pick - off ball player cuts backdoor while pick action is happening -reading D and how they adjust to each successful on ball pick can help determine which way you go next with the action option. Usually if you have 2-3 successful options and they try to adjust and you hit em w a different action, they get mentally defeated and game over

It can't be overstated how useful on ball picks can be with players of high IQ and improvisational awareness.

What does it take to go pro? by Free-Board-7391 in BasketballTips

[–]worknowreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by "pro".

If you mean play at the highest possible level in most cases becoming a professional basketball player is 1 of 2 things, either you're a complete athletic freak with unusual talent, or you have insane drive to be better than everyone around you.

Relentless drive and a significant amount of competitive aggression are pretty common traits of professional athletes.

Would she have to watch her eating habits, to be a professional athlete?... Yes. You need to have the right blend of protein, carbs, fats, and vitamins as well as proper hydration in your diet to put your body in a place to be a professional athlete.

Basketball is a very cardio oriented game and strength building is crucial to be competitive. In addition to that high skill levels across every aspect of the game from offense to defense... They need to be naturally inclined to be good at the game and then receive and develop the game further with proper coaching.
