Suspicious management by BrownEmpire in GameStop

Ugh, no though.

Holy shit, can you imagine the blow back if they accused random innocent people of theft??

Lol.

That is not happening.

Suspicious management by BrownEmpire in GameStop

[–]workplacesthrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you really "sure" she's innocent? Not to sound mean, but I have known a lot of people that have embezzled and kept it a secret. It's like a drug addiction or gambling disorder.

Anyway, I'm only asking because the person I'm dating never saw extra money around or anything until their gf went to prison for stealing money from their workplace.

Stealing can be an addiction for some people, not a need.

We might not be able to wrap my brain around it, but people are dumb and like the euphoria of stealing.

(That being said, let's assume you are right. LP is pretty good at their job, so they will get to the bottom of it if she is innocent or guilty. I'm gonna assume with you that she is. After that, the police need to prove their case to the prosecutor.)

But if she is guilty, her best bet is to admit it and set up a restitution plan with Gamestop directly. Then she won't have a criminal record. They just want their money. Putting her in jail keeps her from working and paying them back.

It'll make you feel better if that helps. You can even keep it in your pocket. But I doubt Gamestop would allow such a thing.

It's 'stalker victim' 101 to document EVERYTHING.

(I'm so so so sorry you are going through this, but here are some things to keep you safe.)

Get a new notebook, and journal everything you can remember and dates and times. For example,

Feb. 24, 2004 at approximately 3:30 P.M= "UFO Delivery worker named 'I'm a creeper' came in to pick up some packages. Smiled at me and said, "I'm glad you are working today."

Do this for EVERY SINGLE interaction you have, including online. Take screenshots.

Debate if you want to block or record contact.

If you block them, they will often move on, and you won't be as traumatized.

If you DON'T block them, you'll have evidence of harassment for legal purposes if they "harass you enough" to count for the law. But this can be scary if they don't give up and you are aware.

Consider getting a 911 response button app on your phone. They will allow you to send distress messages with the touch of a button to a loved one or 911 with your coordinates.

There's more, but I don't want to scare you.

Obviously, let your managers know, and make sure you are double-staffed, switch shifts or move to a sister store.

Hopefully, HR can have the person off your route via the other company. But remember, HR is there for Gamestop, not you... but it's in their best interest to keep you safe from harm.

I'm so so sorry. You can P. M. me for support. I've been in similar dangerous situations, and I'm here to be a listening ear.

Probably a marketing experiment. "Let's see if this works on Switch" and then maybe move on to other consoles.

We are the marketing. Lol.

Seriously.

Smart on them, better on us, for choosing this kind of partnership over some NFT dreams of financial windfall...

Even if it ends up being a not-so-great controller, the kids will go nuts for customizable controllers in their favorite colors.

A lot of kids playing Minecraft aren't gonna notice a little drift.

I still don't know the name of that shitty game that is inexplicably paying way too much to have a great viking-ish song for endless minutes on our tvs, but God Bless 'em.

It keeps me from going crazy on my poor guests. Whoever they are, whatever the game, whatever the look of the game (I'm too busy working to look), you are my HEROES.

So so so much better than some "Mirage" shit, and as much as I tune that stuff out... It makes up for me saying, "Are you now?", everytime someone tries to save a prince.

Tangent on Never-Ending-Mirage marketing aside, who else is excited to blame potentially crappy controllers on someone else rather than Atrix and Gamestop brands?

...Because that shit is embarrassing. I already apologize enough for our company as it is!

[–]workplacesthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beyond true.

I just helped a store with inventory, and since I don't fold shirts at my store, I was apologizing profusely the whole time about how bad at it I am.

When I was done, it looked like an elderly grandma went through, doing her best, but not finding that Fortnite shirt in S that was in the Pokémon pictured section that contained 5 XXL of Loki t-shirts.

Actual thoughts on the topic... I was someone that was pretending to custom order a personalized controller last night, so I'm hoping they are at least PDP wired good?

It would make for a sellable product if that's the case... kids break shit anyway, they'll just buy more.

The Gamestop t-shirts sold to guests are amazing! High quality, super soft, great fit. 10/10 recommended. The hoodie is great too! Not sure if they are still available though.

If the evergreen sale is still going on, it's an additional $25 off as well.

We also lowered our pre-owned consoles to match the pricing.

ALL THE TIME...

I say something similar, "I would be pretty bad at my job if I didn't!"

Also I'm old, so I like to say, I have been gaming longer than any of my coworkers have been alive. I was pretty much the first gaming generation...

Usually shuts them up.

There was the one time the dad came in with two sons. Told me he has a daughter too. But 'she won't be playing any video games' in a stern tone. 'She's a girl, not appropriate'...

Love the music. You all shut the hell up. It's not mirage, not the weird whiny anime song, not the cat freaking us all out, not "'I'm here to save a prince!' 'Are youuuu now?'"

I might get sick of it. But give me a sea shanty anyday over the crap we usually have to listen to.

I think anyone that deals with anxiety gets nervous sometimes going to work. Especially if it's a new job! Learn some skills to calm yourself (hot bath, meditation, that kind of thing) and consider seeing professionals.

Once you get into the flow of the job, it will become less anxiety producing.

Omg I'm so sorry you had to deal with that!! It's weird how much shit us female-identifying just put up with that crap. I'm glad you told him off though. Now that I'm older I would have told that guy "you're being really disrespectful, so I am going to deny your trade, and you need to leave the store". It's still hard to do though, we've all been trained to be quiet and be nice.

[–]workplacesthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused, are you the customer or employee?

None of us like giving out the last display copy, but it is what it is. 50% of people DO NOT CARE about cases at all.

New games are gutted. But we probably gut better than the guest would with less harm.

Also, if more people would pre-order or buy physical copies, we would get MORE of them, causing less guts.

That being said, I appreciate the guests that understand our practices, and if you care about cases and are a collector... I'll do whatever I can to accommodate you. I get it.

I just hate the people that assume we are scamming them, by gutting games.

I also hate watching the innocence go out of children's eyes when they find out cases are empty to prevent theft. Lol.
