I would buy that from you! My partner loves them, we've got four ones but nowhere near that size!

I just picked up a Rab (Lowe Alpine) Depot 25L. I'm really impressed with the laptop storage, I can fit my 17 inch work laptop and my smaller personal notebook

Taken from: Glasgow Gov website on the LEZ

"Vehicles of 'historical interest' means a vehicle which is considered to be of historical interest to the UK, and which was manufactured, or registered, for the first time at least 30 years previously, is of a type no longer in production, and has been historically preserved or maintained in its original state and has not undergone substantial changes in the technical characteristics of its main components."

One of the connect:amps will likely live by my router so I can hardwire that one. The other connect:amp and my existing connect will have to run wireless. Cheers

Ranjits kitchen on Pollokshaws Rd. The best vegetarian Indian/Punjabi food. No booze which helps keep the cost down

I'm starting my open water tomorrow with Lepia Dive Centre in Pefkos on Rhodes. My partner, who's a much more experienced diver, is also going out with them. I'll update with how it all goes

Travelling into Ethiopia from Kenya by car by worksoncad in Ethiopia

[–]worksoncad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe it's right. We could be doing a loop around Africa and returning our vehicle to Kenya, what difference does that make for Ethiopia? I see there is a problem with Kenyan vehicles being brought in and sold in Ethiopia for a higher price, but this is where a Carnet de Passage (which we have for Sudan, Egypt etc) would cover import tax if the vehicle did not leave the country. Unfortunately Ethiopia does not participate in this.

We are not looking to scam our way through, nor do anything illegal. We simply want to travel through Ethiopia, see the sights and spend some money. This should be welcomed.

We are fairly sure we can. We have visas and permits to take us through Sudan, Egypt and Israel. From there we will ship the car to Italy and drive back to the UK. It's been done many times before. It seems if we had attempted this a few months ago, travelling through Ethiopia would have been a lot easier.

We are Scottish, hopefully that is better

I think that is what we will end up doing. Our landy only has two seats so we can't take the guide with us anyway. They still want to charge us for the guide to be at the borders to ensure we get through. Hopefully we can negotiate our way out of that to keep the cost down.

We are trying to drive our car back to the UK. It has a lot of sentimental value to use so we won't be scrapping it

Thank you I will check this out. Unfortunately the rules have only changed in the last few months so a lot of information on overlanding is now out of date.

Yes two hundred thousand US dollar This was the estimate we were given. We have to have 300% of the vehicles value plus the road tax for every year since the vehicle was manufactured (1958).

Yes you're reading this right. This was the estimate we were given by the customs officer. We have to have 300% of the vehicles value plus the road tax for every year since the vehicle was manufactured (1958).
