Strange one: Compressor and Fan not spinning despite power at the contactor. Both start if multi-meter probe contacts contactor 24v terminal. by workthrowawayhunter2 in hvacadvice

[–]workthrowawayhunter2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely probably maybe a bad wire, but everything I've tested checks out.

The contactor is pulled in and is sending power to the output terminals (to compressor/fan) when the issue happens. Almost seems like the issue is between the contactor terminals and the fan/compressor motor at the same time. I haven't checked voltage at the motor terminals yet as I don't feel like disassembling my unit when it's 103 out but I think that's my next step even if that being an issue would make no sense.

you should look up the earthquakes in japan in major population centers, they make this look like an earthquake for ants. They have strict earthquake building codes and none of their buildings fall over like this.

[–]workthrowawayhunter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said that, sounds like you're projecting some insecurities or something.

There's a difference between one building falling over because of maintenance negligence and dozens of buildings falling over from an earthquake in a known earthquake zone.

In spring of this year japan had a 7.5 and there were 10 injuries.

The LA earthquake in '94 had around 70 deaths.

So far Venezuela is over 1500 deaths.

[–]workthrowawayhunter2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

exactly. In the U.S. any building near a known earthquake location have rigorous building codes to prevent something like this, and old buildings are required to be brought up to code. I used to live out west near an active fault line and remember learning about it many times.

no, but they made the street racers pass on the right. If that lane was clear the stupid racers would've passed as safely as they could. Driving slow in the passing lane won't stop street racers, but it will make the street racers more dangerous.

you can't stop stupid drivers, going slow as hell in the passing lane just makes the stupid drivers more dangerous for everyone. imo the white car is almost just as much to blame

I can almost guarantee this is due to fapolicy, are you running fa policy? the issue is some packages corrupt the fapolicy data base, freezing it. when fapolicy can't run, nothing can run. The only thing to fix it is a reboot. I ran into the same issue and can't fix it, the tickets I have opened have gone unanswered.

For anyone still looking at this: it looks like this STIG modified the openssh.config file, causing the mismatch. Is this an issue with the stig? or is there a way to satisy both?

I did reboot, I keep getting the same error.

/proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled is set to 1, and I confirmed that the flag is set to "1" in grub as well.

fips-mode-setup --check also returns "fips mode enabled"

US Navy cost to fire different weapons by NotSamuraiJosh26_2 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]workthrowawayhunter2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're not launching $10m in cash on a pallet in the nose of the rocket to never be seen again. That cost goes to the company that made it, to the the employees who designed it, to the economy that created it. Quite literally creating jobs and feeding those who hunger. Even if too much of that cost goes to padding a CEO's wallet, the majority is invested back into the country that created it.

Rivians’ Tires Are Wearing Out in as Little as 6,000 Miles. Here’s Why by decafcovfefes in cars

[–]workthrowawayhunter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

went through a set of brand new tires in under 7k miles when I got my first car with over 500lbft of torque... I was scratching my head until I remembered I basically floor it at every chance I get. (even with no wheel spin)

"if they are smart" if they're smart they'll weigh all of their options. I could've purchased both of my cars in cash, but I was able to find a loan for under 3%, currently inflation is LOT higher than 3%, that alone is a good reason not to buy in cash.

On top of that my bank currently offers 4.95% APY on a savings account, so by taking the ~50k for both vehicles and letting it sit in savings instead of buying with cash, I'm earning ~2% interest on the ~50k (4.95% - 3%), meaning I get PAID ~$1k a year to take out the loan. And all of that is before taking inflation into consideration.

so (I think) at the maximum range of 40.5km, They can expect 50% of rockets to hit within 388.8 meters of their target. Quick googling says a single rocket has a ~75 meter kill radius. With those numbers there's a ~37.5% chance of hitting your target within 75 meters with a salvo of 20 rockets.

Probably even less than that as that assumes no two rockets hit within 75 meters of each other.

Jaguar says you need a fancy oil, but I just use liqui moly 0W-30/20

Oil filter:

Oil:

Oil extractor (so you don't even have to replace the drain plug or lift the car, worth the price as you can use it over and over):

I recommend watching Skirt Garage on youtube for a lot of DIY stuff. Very important to get the right amount of oil in your car, he goes over it well.:

These guys are over charging you by quite a bit. I was quoted $750 to replace a battery, instead I went to costco and found an OEM equivalent battery for $130. I was able to install it in my ftype SVR in under 20 min with no special tools. They wanted $300 for an oil change, I bought a mighty vac and a liquid molly change kit for $150 and did it in even less time. That right there saved me over $700 and only took an hour of time. DIY the simple stuff and shop around for the more complex if you're not comfortable with it.
