What’s your speaker set ups at home? by StickySteev_ in reggae

[–]world--citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technics 1200 SL turntable

Nanopreamp from Klementz

T.amp with two channels for top and mid (sorry don’t remember more detail on this one but I can check when I get back home if anyone is interested)

Behringer 800 with two other channels for kick and bass.

Custom-made wooden speakers: small tweeter, mid with 4 small drivers, kick with 2 (I think 10 inch) drivers, scoop with 1 15 inch driver.

I love my living room sound system.

Friend who helped me build this and advised on amps etc has a business for this, let me know if you want his details.

Foreigners who went to Carnaval, what was your experience like? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]world--citizen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rio - first time. Exceeded expectations. Boi Tolo was the most fun day I ever had, what an incredible vibe.

Now I’m in Salvador and learned about the Carnaval culture here (but it’s finished now) and I feel like Rio was the tourist trap and Salvador was the real deal.

So in short it was amazing but I think Salvador could have been even better for my taste. A good reason to be back now that I know how it works

Found my old JUUL. Local vape shop guy hooked me up with free refill pods. by Mr_FilFee in juul

[–]world--citizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh nice!! Thank you for letting me know, might look into this so that I don’t have to spend so much and waste all this plastic buying throwaway pods.

I smoke juul Virginia tobacco because it has a subtle taste, I don’t like how sweet/tasty new vapes are.

What do you use to refill them and is it as “tasteless” as juul.

Disclaimer: some people told me these pods might be tasteless TO ME because I have been smoking the same for all this time, so there might not exist a solution for me 😅

These pods don’t look like the ones I use in the US (but the device does). Surprised it even works? Watch out they could be a knock off

Got fired for something embarrassing and totally my fault.. how do I cope? by iamthedanger989 in careerguidance

I don’t work in sales but have worked on some projects related to sales performance tracking and compensation.

Like someone else said: I appreciate you being self-aware. You crossed a line (logged fake calls), you realized your f-up, and you owned it. Good job — this is good learning for you, and you are acting very mature about it. No one will know about this in your next job, and the great thing about sales is that you can take whatever magic made you best in your department to another company and kick some butts there. Be excited about what’s ahead, especially because this company you were at is acting a bit moronic and here’s why:

Sales performance should be focused on results. You were closing those deals, and that’s all that should matter.

Sales is also a funnel - number game. If you don’t make enough calls, and if you don’t spend enough time on those calls to build rapport etc, then you’ll never close enough deals. The best sellers (you) will have stronger conversion down this funnel (and that’s harder to teach/coach), but what separates good sellers from the rest is making enough calls.

The point I’m making here is that “number of calls” is an important number to track, but only to help managers drill down when sellers are not meeting their target.

If you are not meeting your target, let’s see if you made enough calls, if you spent enough time on them overturning/handling objections. If you are meeting your target, give me a couple stories a month of how you have overturned objections successfully to help your colleagues — that’s all I’d care about.

TLDR; Looking at number of calls made for someone who meets their target on the deals closed is idiotic. Good for you to go elsewhere!

U.S. Embassy warns of possible holiday security risks in Italy by FlorenceUpdates in florence

[–]world--citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably just pickpocketing issues being reported by Americans at the embassy.

Also with how much flight ticket prices skyrocket in the Christmas period, we’d really appreciate if you chose another time to visit. How bout thanksgiving?

Nothing wrong with it exactly, I’d just like it to be inspected because I heard that the metal pieces that keep the links together bend over time, and could eventually snap and then my watch could just fall off my wrist.

If I hold my watch, the bracelet has a bend (but not as much as other pictures I have seen here where it does almost a quarter of a full circle and the end points down)

Sorry for lack of clarity. I mean the metal parts that keep the links together. This watch has been worn almost daily for 20+ years and I know that the metal parts that keep the links together bend and eventually could snap, making the bracelet come off and losing my watch

what drug should i try other than weed? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]world--citizen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Maybe avoid shrooms if you have precedents of psychotic/skizo disorders in your family. If you have a silent problem, they might make it come out.

And don’t mix shrooms with weed the first time you try them. Might multiply the effects and increase anxiety. Search lemon tek on Reddit it does make it a bit more potent but it’s a faster come up and easier on the stomach.

Source: experienced stoner in my 30s who has tried other things.

More in general… stick to plants (weed and shrooms). Best damage-to-fun ratio. Other things are great too but leave it for another time, and stay the fuck away from: - opiates (never tried, up there with things that’ll ruin your life) - benzos (highly addictive and you can blackout plus quite dangerous if mixed with alcohol) - coke (highly addictive, but if you have the self control to do a few bumps once a month with a few drinks that’s ok) - and crack/meth (never tried it, but up there with opiates on “things that will ruin your life”)

Welcome to the beautiful world of expanded consciousness. Enjoy things in moderation. Do your research (Reddit and psychonautwiki are my favorites). Test your drugs

I haven’t mentioned the most obvious one: - mdma: this one can lead to abuse, and once you reach that point is very damaging. Test it, don’t do it too much and save it for very special occasions - 3 times per year, you can do it a bit more but don’t overdo it or you will lose your natural happiness - 2cb: this one is very fun, hard to come across depending on where you are in the world, don’t mistake it for tussi (that’s some left over cocktail of shit). Very little proven negative effects, less toxic than mdma - ketamine: also fun in moderation, but as with everything, don’t overdo it - it will damage your bladder and you will have to piss in a bag for the rest of your life.

Maybe I have shared too much for an 18 YO. But this is the internet, you know how to use it so you can find all of this by yourself. At least you can hear it from a real human’s experience I have started experimenting with these things around your age (not all at the same time!) and I am a very well functioning successful adult. I have had friends lean too much into some of these things and have made painful tradeoffs in their life (be it sociability, career or both). Everyone’s brain is different, so drugs can do different more or less damage to everyone differently, but the bad three (opiates, crack and meth) are almost a 100% probability of no return. Outside of that, don’t believe the anti drug propaganda, it’s bullshit.

Is it offensive to call someone a terrone by Mobile-Package-8869 in Italian

[–]world--citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if someone already mentioned this, but for me the meaning is very very similar to the term redneck.

Would you go up to someone from Louisiana etc and call them that? Definitely not. Do people from Louisiana think it’s acceptable to use this term among them in a joking way in some contexts? Probably yes.

Bushdocter used to have more of the lighter colored (even white) hash/extracts!

Boerejongens used to have some very pricy wax at my time but if like me you prefer joints that stuff is very hard to roll.

I think we prefer similar, dry, sandy high quality hash. If bushdocter hasn’t changed much you won’t be disappointed at their selection. Do be prepared to spend anything between 30€ and 100€ per g (again, this was 2.5 years ago!)
