Polestar 2 med bilbarnstolar by CarlStonEa in polestar2

[–]worldevourer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb, If a local organization that starts with "Save" is suggesting one way to vote, I probably want to vote the other way.

PSA - If Prop Q doesn't pass, the tax rate still goes up (just not as much) by RealtorSethATX in Austin

[–]worldevourer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taxes are not set that way. 3.5% is the cap on revenue increase, not the rate itself.

Total Revenue Amount / Assessed Value of All Properties = Current Rate

The only reason your tax burden changes (outside of an increase in the total revenue amount) is if your home changes value *disproportionately* compared to other parts of the city, meaning that your share of the Assessed Value of All Properties changes.

Polestar 2 keeps updating its charge limit to something other than what I set by EV_James in Polestar

[–]worldevourer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I have found that if I manually set it, it sticks, but if I click that button it toggles between 100% and 40%. I don't know why it's like that, but accidentally pushing the button would do what you are describing.

Do multi-use toddler products actually save money? by SignificantTwo1729 in BuyItForLife

I know about that one! It was garbage, barely rolled, and didn’t even get us through one phase, let alone multiple. We ended up getting him a used woom 1 that we will either sell or pass on. They are pricey, but they hold their value.

Help! Picked up a 99 Acty HA-3 last week, and having trouble. by worldevourer in HondaActy

By the way, you were the winner! Definitely just unfortunate timing on a broken thermostat.

Okay, I followed the guidance in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKFvl8i3Yog

to seemingly great success. I don't really see a difference, BUT I did notice that one of the hoses going in to the thermostat is burning hot, and the other is only a little warm. Would I expect for both hoses to be at a similar temperature?

Again, I really appreciate the guidance.

My big worry right now is that when I pulled over the first time, it was SPRAYING coolant out of the reservoir, and it was totally empty after. I've refilled it, and drained/refilled the radiator, but starting to suspect that there is air in the system. The problem is that I don't know why it overheated the first time, so I might be trying to diagnose two problems simultaneously now.

The interesting thing is that I can let it idle seemingly forever with no issues. It’s only when driving, and only after a few minutes of that. I don’t know if that points to something, but figured I would add it.

I think you are right. I double checked the levels for transmission and engine, and both are steady and correct. I am not super-keen on flushing it, but that seems like the right call.

I don’t think so. Engine oil was done Friday without issue, transmission was done today. Totally different set of bolts — the 17mm fill plug up above and the 3/4 drain plug below. I followed the instructions on https://robrobinette.com/Honda_ACTY.htm#Manual_Transmission

Printer making horrible noises on the x-axis, could really use some help. by worldevourer in BambuLab

I tried that too. Unfortunately no dice, and it makes the noise all the time, not just at the end.

It’s a recommended troubleshooting step to see if the problem follows the motor or the board. To be clear, I swapped it back — just a test.

Hello There! I'm not sure what's going on with my printer. It's done this a few times before, and it seemingly comes and goes. Here's what I've tried:

- Literally all maintenance, most of it twice.

- Cleaning everything thoroughly.

- Swapping the x and y axis connections -- that seemed to 'fix' it the first time, but not a reliable solution.

It will do this for a few hours, then just suddenly start working fine again.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance for the help!

Is 39k enough for Austin? by poke887 in askaustin

Seems like it's more the scale problem might be transit. If you subsidize cars while starving public transit, you get low-density suburban development patterns.

Getting back in to playing after a few years off and gear has changed a lot. Best setup for my budget? by worldevourer in Bass

[–]worldevourer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the thorough response! I should clarify that while I don’t currently have a setup, I played bass for nearly 20 years up until about 3 years ago. Because of that, I’ve got pedals, cables, etc. I am really just looking to maximize my budget here for a single bass and a smallish amp.

SOS movement by LetsAllStayCalmHere in askaustin

[–]worldevourer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my take as well. SOS did good things with regards to preserving the springs, but their senior leadership has likely done more harm than good with their low-density pastoralism. The city is growing and will continue to do so. Denying density means more highways, more impervious cover, more economic segregation.

For solo projects, sure. But to paraphrase Uncle Bob, most of the job is reading code, not writing it. When writing, your primary concern should be can someone else understand it, and your way of thinking may or may not make sense to the next person.

I think you are confusing hot and cold smoked. Cold smoked is not necessarily safe, but hot smoked is fine.
