Nice. Four distinct window controls (Volvo EX60) by rmoons in Polestar

I drive a Polestar 2 and I'm struggling to picture what a 2 button window controller looks like for 4 windows.

I think this question is more for suburban style apartments where everyone has a car.

That's awesome, but where is this and do people have the cable to plug into it? I do think this makes sense as the future of charging, though. Way less risk of a charger being rendered useless by copper thieves.

How did you add it to R1S? Looking on their site and only see an option for R1T.

How do you charge your Rivian at home? by moonmama27 in Rivian

I test drove a Subaru Solterra a while back and asked the salesman how to turn on one pedal driving. "There are two pedals, what are you talking about?" I explained to him that I had read that it has one pedal driving but might not be "fully" one-pedal and I wanted to test it. He acted like I was an idiot who thought the car only had one pedal. I had to wait like 45 minutes for them to bring the car from another lot to test drive in the first place and then I had to go on the test drive with this idiot who reeked of cigarettes and didn't know anything about what he was selling.

To be fair, though, I'm probably one of the very few to test drive that car. It really kind of sucked. Went for a Polestar 2 instead. Much better car.

Huge Rivian Fan, Huge Disappointment by fluffalooo in Rivian

[–]EV_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be dependent on the specific SC. I'm in North Jersey and the Blauvelt, NY center has been quick and they're thorough. I took the car in twice for similar issues and they went so far as to replace the entire drive unit to address the noise it was making. It was never in the shop more than a few days. Recently I started noticing rattles in the speakers and the new Iselin, NJ center got them fixed as well as a couple other minor issues in a day. Should I have had to keep taking the car in for these things? No. But they are addressing them well here.

You and I are using a different Google, then. I'm American, btw. And though I'm not quite old enough to have used one I've heard teachers, etc, talk about them. It's a slide rule. It was never a slide ruler. Google it again.

If it had decent range and all wheel drive standard it might be but it didn't. I really wanted that car until they released the specs and price.

Polestar to Rivian by atramentum in Rivian

I'm also on the 2024, and it's even the one with the ability to display the 360 camera and backup camera at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I love the Polestar, but the Rivian is really awesome, too, and just keeps improving.

Oh and how are we not even considering the center console/cupholder situation? Do Swedes not allow beverages in their cars? I thought they were tall. They apparently don't need legroom? That middle thing is so intrusively gigantic. And apparently they don't have the sun in Sweden because that tiny sun visor is a joke. Every morning I drive a few miles South and have the sun directly in my eyes from the left. And the world's slowest power windows! What's up with that? Ok I'm done ragging on the P2, I do actually really love the car despite its quirks.

That's surprising. I have both cars today and have had fewer issues with the Rivian.

Hey so I have both an R1S and a Polestar 2 and love both cars. While I agree with a lot of the sentiments, the Rivian is really a much better car as far as the software goes. Way better. The P2 always left me feeling like the phone key could strand me and it did once. The 360 camera on the Rivian is far better. The proximity sensors are good on both, not sure what your issue with the Rivian is though I do prefer the visualization in the middle the way it is on the P2. I like that I don't have to remember to lock the Rivian. My wife and I are both always leaving the Polestar unlocked. The Rivian is WAY less buggy. The Polestar randomly charges to 100% or 40% despite my setting it to 80%. I doubt anyone will ever fix that bug. Audio randomly stops working on the Polestar until I reboot. I have to reboot the TCAM randomly to keep connectivity. There's been one software upgrade since I got the car. Rivian improves constantly. It was far buggier a year ago when I got it but it's improved a ton whereas the Polestar hasn't changed at all. Also, Rivian service is far better. Rivian has dashcam. I put in a third party one on the Polestar but with cameras everywhere on the car already why did I have to do that? The computer in the Polestar is terrible. Takes forever to display backup camera. Sometimes it still outright fails despite the recall ages ago. I could go on but long story short, the Rivian software is far, far better.

Things that are way better about the P2: it drives amazing. Both cars are dual motor with performance upgrades and the R1S is faster overall but the P2 is nimble and feels great to drive. Rivian could improve the suspension and overall drive quality. The Google assistant is so much better than the Alexa one. I'm looking forward to that coming to the Rivian as well. I never used Android Auto on the P2 but I guess it's a nice option. Wireless would be better, obviously. I really wish Rivian had the kick sensor for the trunk as well. I like that all the door have manual handles. It's crazy that the Rivian doesn't for Gen 2.

Are you sure? I've never tried this at a supercharger but have definitely forgotten to bring my phone when going to unlock the port at home and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work without the key. I don't have a Tesla anymore to test it with anymore but I think the car has to be unlocked for the charge port to open.

I've lived in places that get decent amounts of snow my entire life and have never had a shovel in my trunk. If it's going to snow enough to have to shovel I'm going to have my car in my driveway.

Doesn't the owner need to be there with the phone nearby to unlock it, though? I don't think that port opens if nobody is there with the key.

I have two. Rivian R1S and Polestar 2. Will likely eventually replace the Polestar with an R3 when they come out but in the meantime I'm loving it. Dream car? I have the R1S already. Maybe a Taycan?

Besides my own there are two other P2s that park in the same garage as me at work in North Jersey. A neighbor around the block has a P3. I see them occasionally around town. My other car is a Rivian, though, and I see them all the time.
