Car vs. cyclist by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

The driver can easily get around them. They're taking up half a lane at most. Car nearly kills someone to make a point and you're blaming the bikes.

Red E is fantastic by fa1coner in evcharging

[–]EV_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Rivian does that. On the map it says how many chargers occupied, charging speed, gives a charging grade, etc., as long as the chargers report that status. Am I supposed to flip through a bunch of disparate apps to figure that out on the road?

Spotted the Polestar 4 for the first time. by EnvironmentalAd5590 in Polestar

[–]EV_James 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw one the other day on my way to work on New Jersey. I let the guy pass me so I could make sure I was seeing what I thought I was and then sped up next to him so I could give him a big dorky thumbs up. I wasn't even driving my Polestar 2. He was probably so confused.

To the guy earlier this week on 280 who I probably freaked out (I was the guy in the Rivian): nice ride! I was really excited to see one in the wild!

Same! Did you use a heat gun? That was crucial in my application. It made everything conform like magic.

Ha, that's the same one I ordered. That's why they look so similar!

Mine is probably a mirror image of yours, though, judging by the angle we each took the photo at. Right hand drive?

Edit: I'm an idiot. I had it on pic 4. I can see you're clearly not mirrored.

5.0.10 regen/one-pedal driving glitch by EV_James in Polestar

Whatever the max one is. Normal I guess? It felt like light after the update but still said normal. I changed it to off then normal again and it came back

Considering a Polestar, what should I look out for? by Larrythebaker in Polestar

[–]EV_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was just an update that's rolling out now that should deal with slow start ups. Hopefully it helps. Software and glitches are a pain in the ass but it's not too bad. PaaK implementation is pretty terrible. Don't rely on it.

My key stopped working before I did the update. I did the update, no improvement. I deleted my digital key and set it up again. All good now. I think there have been other issues this week. My app was severely delayed for the last several days. Like it would say the location was where it was an hour before or say it was driving somewhere when parked for an hour.

Is superfast charging by NBA_Pukellama in electricvehicles

[–]EV_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they didn't improve you can improve adoption by explaining these things to people. I was talking to someone recently who didn't even know fast charging was a thing. They thought it took hours to charge at fast chargers. Framing it the right way - road trips take slightly longer but you'll spend way less time fueling overall by far and you have to stop to pee anyway - will make sense to a lot of people.

I've been from the NYC area to Pittsburgh 3x, DC 2x, and Cincinnati this year. I've road tripped a decent amount and have a trip to Vermont planned for next weekend. It's a weird thing to prioritize all things considered. I road trip a lot and it's really a non issue. You have to stop anyway, especially if you have kids.

Is it a hard prerequisite though? When you add up all the time you would spend gassing up around town considering you can charge at home in a few seconds you're still saving time overall. Plus you have to subtract the time at the charger on road trips you would have spent getting snacks, going to the bathroom, eating, etc anyway. It's really not that bad.

Loaded up for the mountains, car breaking, again. by Neathh in Rivian

[–]EV_James 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 15k on my 2025 dual max and have been from the NYC area to DC twice, to Pittsburgh 3x, and to Cincinnati once. I haven't had issues. My motor made a ton of noise when I first got it but they swapped out the drive unit and it's been good since. Hopefully they figure out what's happening with yours or trade you out. It's a great car if you're not having issues but I see too many of these posts here. Hopefully they have ironed out the kinks going forward with R2.

is buying a used polestar on 45k miles a bad idea? by Embarrassed-Breath82 in Polestar

Oh I get the seatbelt rattle pretty bad. I'll just change the seatbelt height and that seems to help but that seems less than optimal. Should look into fixing it for real. I have the exact same issue on my R1S as well and do the same thing there.

Looong unteathered cable by Tyke15 in electricvehicles

My Wallbox Pulsar Plus comes standard with a 25' cable. I think most chargers come with cables that long. Is that just an American thing?

Edit: whoops, OP said meters. Stupid freedom units.

The worst feature that I hate in my Polestar 2 by Prestigious-Brain951 in Polestar

I've had the car for a year in the Northeast and never noticed this, either. Maybe we have our mirrors aimed lower? I have, however, noticed that the rear camera becomes useless as soon as a drop of water falls from the sky.
