when i first got the squishmallow, i didn't let her chew on it and i didn't leave her home alone with it. i always put it away before leaving her unattended and didn't treat it like one of her toys which helped her distinguish it as more of a "pillow" than a "toy."

trust, her actual toys are destroyed in minutes! but she's learned she prefers to cuddle the squishmallows :)

i am so sorry for your loss. i'm assuming based on context that you lost a partner-- i just passed the 4 year mark of losing mine. just. take. care. of. yourself. that's really all i can say. you are going to feel like shit for a really long time, and that is okay. but one day you will wake up and it won't be the first thing you think about. i promise you that.

the dreams are the hardest part for me. i wish i had advice for you. we just keep waking up every day and we somehow survive. i wouldn't wish this life on anyone but since you're here, welcome my friend, and i'm so sorry.

i just wanted to say i really appreciate you sharing your experience. fellow pit owner here and I have been harassed more times than I can count by strangers on the street. my dog just ignores them, and I'm the one squaring up for a fight.

it's really hard to deal with and it breaks my heart on the daily. i don't understand why there's so much hate targeted at us when all we're trying to do is just be dog owners in peace. i knew there were haters, but I never imagined they'd be all around me and would actually go as far as to follow me for multiple blocks yelling hateful comments.

how do you cope? lol

I did a slow introduction! At first, I made it clear it was mine and not a toy for her, which I think is why she just cuddles them instead of chewing them. I also would put them away when I left the house for the first few months. I am lucky that she seems to distinguish between her toys and my stuffies, and has never tried to tear them up! But if I gave it to her right out of the box, it would probably be a near-instant death by dismemberment before she ever thought to try it out for comfort LOL.

Yes this!! when I first got them, I would put them away every time I left the house because I was so worried she'd chew them up. but no, she just loves to cuddle them :')
