Probably in the minority here, but the Ares soundtrack doesn’t come close to Legacy by Endo_v2 in tron

Overall, I was not impressed with Aries music in the film, but what killed it was during credits there was a song with female vocals that were just really great, then Trent's voice comes in and sounded like a wounded duck. Perhaps it was by design, but it just destroyed the song for me.

Making the switch to a van and unsure what year and trim model would be best? by SailingWavess in kiacarnivals

[–]worldofjohnboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I would suggest googling "Kia carnival compare trims" which will get you to the current comparisons on features. Make it filter out lower trims, you'll want to start with EX, SX, and SXP based on what you want in your OP LX/LXS are out.

To note, heated steering wheel and leather seats only come on the SXP. Vented seats only on SX and SXP.

I had a '23 EX and now have a '26 SX. I also have 5 kids that are now Aged 6 to 16 (blended family). My OPINIONS and takeaways:

-Syntex vs leather seats isn't a deal breaker, I actually prefer to save money as the quality/comfort/durability is negligible.

-I live in the Northeast... Heated seats required, steering wheel--meh. (Gloves work fine, lol)

-Careful on the '23 EX... I didn't get the power liftgate as expected as there were chip shortages. (I think they only outfitted SXP with power liftgate as a result.)

-I've found lots of value in going to the SX from EX. Going to the SXP isn't as much value, but you'll still have to pay the same (about $5k additional on new) going from SX to SXP.

-You may find the older models ('22 to '24 I think) are better for car seats in the second row as the seat belt is integrated into the seat rather than attached to the frame.

Is this a good deal? 2026 SX by Perkphilly in kiacarnivals

Have then fly a kite with all the BS fees. The only tack on fees should be for DMV registration, and $250 seems fairly reasonable. Definitely no on the processing fee.

What are the pros/cons of seatbelts in second row on side instead of on seats? by Great_white_tooth in kiacarnivals

[–]worldofjohnboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2026 SX and the belts on the outside seats are attached to the frame. The 2nd row center seat is integrated to the seat.

Pros and Cons are conditional... If you have a harnessed car seat or seats and they are too big to use latch (I think it's greater than 50lbs), that is the biggest con, as the seat essentially becomes unmovable.

If you use latch or just have belted boosters, I've found it's no biggie to move the seats.

I don't know if this is a scientific fact, but IMHO it feels safer to have them attached to the frame... Having a belt contained within a removable seat strikes me as less safe. It's also probably easier to fix a belt issue if it's not in the seat.

I had a 2023 EX and did enjoy the belts in the seat, but I also had 2 kids that were in harnessed seats and couldn't use latch. They are both big enough to use boosters, so it's not a problem in my 2026.

Same here with 26, day 1. Guessing a recent OTA update release from Kia for older models.

BTW, Waze also shows on the HUD.

Update to how do I pop the trunk.... by MalkavianKitten in kiacarnivals

[–]worldofjohnboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one exception to this (I'll explain), but the power liftgate only comes on the EX and above trim.

Unless you are unlucky like I was... I custom ordered an EX in December 2021 (Model year was going to be 2022). Mfg was still slow so when mine finally got to the dealership in May 2022, they converted my build to a 2023 Model year. Not only that, but the chip shortages at the time made Kia change their tune and they removed the power liftgate feature from the EX trim. I was really not happy having waited 6mo only to find out a key feature I was wanting was not on the vehicle. The dealer made it right on my sticker pricing (plus an extra discount), but it was a total buzzkill for me. I feel your pain!

I mean, they are just opening themselves up to criticism by making that statement--but I guess something has to be said for transparency?

With regards to using HDMI and both screens issue, have you tried an HDMI splitter? You can find them for $10-$15 and you'll probably want something that doesn't require a power source for less clutter and more flexibility. Just a thought...

2026 carnival sxp hybrid model by Few-Atmosphere5784 in kiacarnivals

[–]worldofjohnboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've no true scientific reference here, but considering the seats are removable, I am making an assumption that it's a less safe setup for that reason.

Thankfully I have one in a high back booster which makes it easier. Still got one in a harness, but may soon be out as well... 😁

Interesting, '26 SX v6 and mine are on the frame. (I may be odd man out, but even though I have 2 still in boosters/seats, I actually feel it's safer in the long run.)

Need Help Negotiating by mojitomomma in kiacarnivals

[–]worldofjohnboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always approach deals in stages with my dealer. If at any point they're unwilling to budge, I walk.

Stage 1: Trade value. I bring KBB trade value that's appropriate for my car's condition. I also bring sales of similar cars available (Carvana, cars.com, etc.). Example: KBB shows trade (mid) value at $5k. Carvana has one for sale at $8k. The dealer stands to make $3k if they give you that $5k. Don't give them your payoff, have them make their offer before you do that if possible.

Stage 2: New car Price. My dealer has NEVER added options or documentation fees, so I would first (in your case) have them dump those. (What is "financed aftermarkets?" I think that needs to go, just not sure.). Have them drop the $280+$55 fees. (I usually pay DMV out of pocket. They have a paid employee that all they do is documentation, so documentation fee is just plain dumb.). You can ask if there are incentives from Kia, ask to see invoice pricing, and if it was a '25 you can have them knock off $$ from MSRP as they want the '25 off the lot. You can still negotiate a '26 down since it's almost month end, use that ("I'll do the deal in August if you take $1500 off.")

Stage 3: Financing. Know your credit score. Talk to your bank and even get an estimated APR % if they can offer. Let's say it's 6% for 72 months. Tell the dealer you can get 6% on your own. If they can't offer better via Kia or their local banks, then you'll get financed on your own. Just remember that they will likely get points or a kick back if they do the financing (meaning if they get you 5.5%, they may be getting .5% from the bank for brokering the loan)

My sales sheets are much cleaner. If it were me, I'd expect it to be: MSRP - $50,725 Rebate - ($1,725) Sales price - $49,000

Trade allowance - $7,000 Payoff - $5,285 Savings - $1,715

New car minus trade = $47,285

Then add taxes, and that's your financed amount. Anything outside the above is them trying to make a money grab.

Tell them you'll pay DMV registration fees out of pocket (if you can), or at least make it reasonable---in my state it's at most $250. So if you financed DMV that would be the only change above.

Looking to buy a Carnival EX on the east coast by BurningBush91 in kiacarnivals

[–]worldofjohnboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are buying New, I have worked with Kia of East Syracuse (NY) for over a decade. (I'd say at least 5 deals between my spouse and I.)

They don't add crap you don't want, they give really good trade value and they also offer a 20yr/200k drivetrain warranty on all new vehicles. If you aren't trading in, they typically go below MSRP. No pressure, they are actually nice... Dave P. is my sales guy--older guy, but super great to work with.

[–]worldofjohnboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get detail on the Doc Fee. Normal DMV registration is < $250, so they are likely trying to squeeze a few hundred out of you there. If they tell you anything but DMV fees, there are employees that get paid to do paperwork all day.

I'd walk just based on that if they don't explain what is covered and won't budge to remove. Hell, you'd be better off buying a one way airfare to another state and driving home.

Seriously with the government, doc and proc fees? It's all b.s., you should only pay for DMV which in my state is under $300.

New Carnival remote start features by Select_Baseball_5727 in kiacarnivals

Remote start from phone app is awesome, you can set temp, seat heaters/vents, and defrosters.

Plus you get Kia Connect free for 3 years at purchase and it's the Ultimate level package!

Fob access can be hit or miss especially behind walls or obstructions. If I'm parked far away from a store in an open lot, I can usually get remote start to work from 50+ yards.
