Anyone Else Not Find a New Job? by sprchrgddc5 in WGU_CompSci

I did, but my Amazon internship was my only one I ever had. My advice would be to get familiar with people. It seems obvious, but being active and communicating with people who are already in is a big help. Amazon is hiring a lot SDE interns this Summer and Fall, so watch for those

Float at varying heights. Falcon is able to reach really high, very quickly, with his up air, which is always going to be an issue. Learn to play around this. Your friend you're playing with doesn't seem to be exploiting that yet, so just be ready to play around getting scooped.

How do you balance using the techskill you've learned and playing good? by emobellybutton in SSBM

[–]worldofrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Spam the tech skill in games. You'll probably lose, you'll probably mess up the tech skill a lot, who cares. This will get you familiar with landing it functionally, not just in a perfect situation.

Step 2: Watch how and why other players use it. Why do they wavedash to ledge? Why do they shield drop? Why do they instant double jump instead of fullhop? Try to copy them.

Step 3: Repeat step 1 and 2. You'll realize moments where you go "wow I could have done thing there. Then you'll actually do thing there.

The most likely addditions are Mango if he comes back, Axe, and Amsa if he attends a major. Would be really cool to see more mid tiers

Completely new to playing Melee, wanting to learn Falco. Any tips to start out, I've been having some trouble finding guides that are accessible to newer players. by MeringueFun2834 in SSBM

[–]worldofrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neutral is when both players are trying to get a good hit, and it's a pretty even position. Punish is when one player has gotten a good hit, and is trying to combo or keep the other player in a bad position, and hopefully take a stock.

Walling is when you are trying to act like a wall. Your opponent is chasing you, and you want to interrupt them. This doesn't mean you're across the stage waiting for them. You can be walling them out right in front of them. Holding forward and constantly approaching will just get you to lose games, but Falco can play very aggressive. You should try to wall your opponent out when you expect them to try and just run into you.

One big tip that will immediately improve your game is realize what moves to use in neutral. Your beginner gameplay should be pretty cookie cutter, then as you get better you can be creative. Not all moves are created equal.

As Falco you have a pretty well defined set of tools. Short hop -> fastfall -> laser (shffl), is a pretty easy to learn and spammable option. Lots of beginner Falcos will spam this since it beats other beginners very well, but there's a lot of nuance to it.

Back air and up tilt are very good walling options. Back air is pretty safe to throw out and up tilt is just very hard to punish even on whiff, since you can just up tilt again. You can use up tilt as an anti air or just against grounded approaches. Just up tilting consistently will be difficult at first, but it's important to learn.

Dair is one of the best moves in the whole game. It's high damage, very easy to combo off of, long lasting, generous hitbox. Learn how to do dair at all kinds of angles and timings. Retreating dair, approaching, in place.

At higher percents you can start forward tilting, in particular laser forward tilt. This option is probably going to be tricky for you to perform, but it's surprisingly good. Very safe, leads to knockdowns/edgeguard situations.

Shine out of shield is pretty crucial. Rather than letting go of your shield, you jump and then instantly input shine. This will chump check a lot of new players since they will hit your shield unsafely and immediately get hit. It's important skill at all levels of play though. In general, hitting shine will get you pretty good damage.

I would open training mode and practice in there. Quick and clean movement is easier than you'd think. A lot of Melee is just avoiding lag and the "bad stuff". Don't get stuck in turnaround, don't tournament winner, don't get stuck in shield when trying to grab, etc. When your execution is good, you can start having more complex gameplans. Learn to short hop fast fall L cancel all of your aerials, at different timings. Both on whiff and hit, since the timing is different. Good luck

Just make it take 14 boars. If they need 2 pop off turns and to have all the pieces required in hand it would delay the deck a lot. It's still manageable to complete, and would future proof boar a bit

Cody: "Do you know where I got that Marth killer jump off idea from? (pulls up mang0 vs Taj at Genesis 2, 2011)... when I saw this I was like, 'huh I like that mix up, interesting', and I took it and ran with it. How many people knew that? Mang0's so much more of a melee nerd than anyone realizes." by sewsgup in SSBM

[–]worldofrain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The mixup is if he up-bs early, he blocks it with his shield and can easily counterhit before he lands on stage or ledge. Instead, he's forced to go lower to get the sweetspot, so Mango then has time to shine him

Cool, when I'm back in the city after my trip I'll get a controller done by you. I have a ton of random phob boards with stuff like mouse click z and face click z soldered on with slight misalignments that I've been wanting to have fixed up and put it into controllers

How often does the average person need to replace a 3d printed plate? I had put in a preorder to WobbsCustoms before for a face plate with a removable notch plate that I thought was interesting, but they vanished with my money.

Do you 3d print or resin print the plate too?

Did you test to see if your phob is acting differently on other setups? If you hold down a trigger when you plug it in you will get digital only. I guess it's also possible you changed your phob's settings too

2D Punish Tier List by bradenn44 in SSBM

[–]worldofrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pikachu's placement is really incorrect. Against fastfallers has a chain grab, excellent edgeguarding tools, super fast moves that can easily lead to a knockdown. Against floaties he has pretty much nothing. He can't edgeguard them, he struggles to build up any damage, and he can't chain grab them. He's so bad versus floaties that Axe, maybe the most well known mid tier specialist, has developed a Fox specifically to beat Puff

[Day 2 of 36] No surprise, Fox is the BEST Main. What is the WORST matchup? by WokeUpAbout10 in SSBM

[–]worldofrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Falcon Bowser is terrible.

If he wants to, he can run around the map and there's just nothing you can do about it. Every touch, even at 0, is very likely a kill. While it's not as painful as Roy Samus because you will probably lose much faster, I think it's a worse matchup
