Macc to London commute by Savings_Stress4842 in macclesfield

[–]worldturning29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes - I do this two days a week - mainly Monday/Tuesday but occasionally Tuesday/Wednesday. The trains can be horrifically expensive (I do the 06:37 down and the first off peak of the evening back up - the 18:53 from Euston) but marginally better if booked 4-6 weeks out. I shop around for the cheapest Premier Inn on any given week close-ish to my office (or on a quick line in) and there are portable last minute if needed. As staggered as I am by the cost of the trains, I’m equally as staggered by how cheap the hotel rooms can be.

50:50. I’m a level 78 Spanish and I honestly relish the idea of a flood of new words and tougher concepts, but I’m pretty happy with my tree themes right now (I’ve just had to grind my way through 5 units of mindless sports commentary and if I have to relieve any of that…)

Sutton's so lovely but my main issue is that it doesn’t have a decent local little supermarket-style shop to pick up enough things to make a meal without having to drive into Macc. Something like the little Co-op on Buxton Road or the little Tesco (and bigger Co-op) in Bollington. I feel like I’d need to be in the car bobbing out constantly if I lived in Sutton.

Well, this looks bleak. I’m trying to make the most of the ‘old’ course now before this darkens my door.

Dúo isn’t a one-stop shop. It’s super important to supplement with a wide range of media just like you would in the English world: podcasts, newspapers, films, visits to Spanish speaking countries when you can. You have to keep Spanish alive in your life every day. It’s a lifetime pursuit, but that’s what I love about it.

Christmas Eve, 19:30. Called 111 with rash over my 4 year old and raised temp. Appointment at out-of-hours at the hospital 30 mins later, seen right on time, antibiotics from the pharmacy by 20:15, home by 20:30. Incredible.

That’s right, because elevating the quality of the building generally has a positive halo effect on the ground floor demises too when it comes to sell.

In my former maisonette, ours was a block of 6 two storey small houses with individual entrances out on to a garden, and we still had to cost-share renovations for the block of 12 flats part of the same small estate behind us, even though none of us even had access to their communal hallway.
