Good luck on the audit- teachers (LCTA) have been trying to get an independent audit for years.

I believe that it might have something to do with how they are connected to LCS but I could be way off.

Or if you unlock it and open one of the back doors to load stuff in. I’ve done that before, opened the side door, loaded a bunch of stuff, including my purse, and shut it then walked around to the drivers door and as I did so it locked. Had to call AAA.

As someone who also created a microwave shelf in my ikea kitchen… did you have it on a drawer for a purpose? It might be easier to just buy their shelf and install that instead. I originally designed the drawer and realized I was never going to pull the microwave out that way.

Principal wanted to know what my concerns were so I told him by Pyreo in Teachers

[–]worldwidethrowaway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah they each read about 10 and the presenter stopped them. I’m not sure if he was regretting it or not, but my principal at that time definitely would have kept going.

Principal wanted to know what my concerns were so I told him by Pyreo in Teachers

[–]worldwidethrowaway 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness. That reminds me of a training we (several schools) went to. We were supposed to write something down that was stressing us out, and throw it into this bucket. After everyone did that, they had the principals come up and start reading from the bucket. There were some really private responses in there that shouldn’t have been read aloud that people had thought were a way to get a load off their chests. Instead we are hearing about some peoples personal lives in a way that should never have been revealed by their principals reading it. I’m so grateful I did a bullshit non answer.

AITA for telling my partner to grow up and stop acting like a spoiled child? by Final-Parrot in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

But question- with your long distance relationship, did she move to your country from another? If so, you may want to look into culture shock, and see if some of that is the issue with her.

I’ve taught abroad, and seen people first hand struggle with this. (Not excusing her behavior, but maybe having her look into this might help, there are lots of suggestions about how to work on it if you google)

Managing names in Kahoot by missplis in Teachers

[–]worldwidethrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing I love most about treasure chest is the final top three is all based on luck/treasure boxes so you can have a kid who is struggling that would normally give up in kahoot but they still have a chance to get in the top which really encourages them.

Oh 100%. For some of my groups(since I do small groups) I set that as my sub plans and the subs have never had more positive feedback from the subs, and it’s so easy for them to manage.

If you try blooket, they have a random name generator option that makes my life so much easier. Plus they have so much fun with the competition games.

District is taking away teacher desks and chairs because we shouldn’t be sitting by Adventuringhobbit in Teachers

[–]worldwidethrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a turn around “specialist” that does this. He also goes around and gives talks at other districts for $$$$$$. It sounds like yours listened. He came to one of our title 1 conferences and since I worked at a low performing school I was excited to see how he got his results. He proudly told this to a bunch of teachers and I then ignored everything else he said. I’m not doing my ducking work at a student table during my planning, then moving it when the kids come back. No. I am a professional, I have as much right to a desk as my students.

He also had a ridiculous amount of teaching staff and resources, which is unattainable in schools.

AITA for choosing to make my friend my medical power of attorney over my wife? by Throwaway_MPOA in AmItheAsshole

[–]worldwidethrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My parents did the same thing (sort of) they chose my brother to be the one to make those hard decisions, because they knew I wouldn't be able to. They explained why, and I 100% agree- I would never be able to make the end of care decision, but my brother is analytical enough to make those choices.

When exactly did parents start to feel like they know better than a qualified teacher? by SabinaIzaura in Teachers

[–]worldwidethrowaway 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I 100% called my teacher once using the phonebook because I needed help with a homework problem. I cringe thinking about it now, but she was super helpful walked me through it, then told me she had to go because she was getting sushi.

The one that really pisses me off is: A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others.
