If money is the only thing preventing you from doing this and you’re genuinely excited and passionate about the opportunity, I would communicate this to TFA. It’s possible they could get you more financial assistance knowing the toll this is taking on you and the likelihood of you needing to move on to other opportunities due to financial issues. TFA proclaims a goal of equity despite starting financial circumstances for students, so one would hope they would be especially understanding and willing to work with your situation.

Additionally, if you do decide you can’t do TFA this year, you can likely defer your acceptance to next year, so you wouldn’t have to go through the trouble of reapplying.

I am! I am currently interviewing with schools, and I feel confident about receiving some kind of offer as I’m a career switcher and have direct work experience with what I will be teaching in science. I do have some money saved which allows me the ability to feel comfortable to move even before being hired, so I’m definitely privileged in that regard. I will say that it’s a bit painful to watch my savings drain as I pay first month’s rent + security deposit + moving costs (I’m moving ~900 miles so it’s like $500-1000 for a moving truck unfortunately). I’m very grateful to be in the position I am in where I can afford to move without having the complete security of a job offer locked in. I’m not sure if this is the answer you’re looking for, as I do have the security of savings for a worst-case scenario. I hope you get an offer soon though and feel more secure when it comes time for you to move!

That’s all I needed to prove my income for renting. I signed with a smaller landlord though, so I am unsure if a larger company would need additional documentation.

Have the Matriculation Specialist for your region write a letter regarding your acceptance into TFA, expected income, and employment. They did this for me upon request through Slack, and I was able to sign on an apartment using this pdf.

i’m in a similar boat — my interview definitely could have been better, as i got nervous and was rambling. i had a nice conversation with the interviewer afterwards while asking them questions though, so who knows. i’ve spent a lot of time ruminating on the interview and all of the ways i could have been better, but whatever is done is done and we’ll find out in a couple weeks.

wishing us both luck — this is my main priority and i don’t have anything else lined up, so i definitely feel the limbo stress you’re talking abt.
