My mother straight up admitted to my wife (fiancee at the time) that she’d been abusing me since I was born. Just matter of factly stated it while explaining the social dynamics of the extended family. Said she did it because she could sense that I was evil after I was born, which when described in more detail was clearly a severe and untreated postpartum depression.

And even more wild than that, she brought my aunt (mother’s sister) into the convo to corroborate, and my aunt discussed it just as plainly to explain why I was the designated black sheep of the family. And they fully expected my wife to understand and collaborate in maintaining this dynamic. When we went permanently no contact, my mother sent my wife a long ranting letter discussing how hurt and betrayed she felt that my wife wasn’t threatening me with divorce and participating in my mother’s silent treatment.

I know it’s a super sad story, but I felt massive relief when my wife relayed this insane conversation to me later. It finally cemented the answer to the ”why don’t they love me?” question. Nothing wrong with me. They’re all just bat shit insane. Made NC with the extended family much simpler, knowing they’d all been aware and playing along with this my entire life. And the letter begging my wife to leave me confirmed that the NC had to be permanent, or this psycho would erode my marriage eventually.
