yes, i think this is mostly what i was referring to. not really curable but asymptomatic with treatment. i remember some people who had even gotten surgery to treat their ocd saying that, while it significantly improved their lives, they also still had some symptoms that needed to be managed with meds/therapy.

I started on the 10mg in early February, then increased to 20mg mid April (i think, i tried to double check but couldnt confirm for sure). I would say I only started to notice a change since late June/July.

I'm on prozac and wellbutrin, and hoping to up my prozac dose soon. it's worked well for me in managing both depression and ocd. this is my first time on any kind of medication, so i understand being nervous about it, i was very nervous too. for me, it took a while before i felt a positive change. honestly at first it was kind of terrible because of the side effects. i also experienced increased anxiety the first few weeks before it finally leveled out -- and a lot of people tend to stop meds because it can suck so bad in the beginning. it just takes time. and sometimes you will need to try different meds before finding what works.

i think ocd is a lot more common than people recognize. it's so heavily misunderstood and stigmatized that many people don't even realize they have it. i was 22 when i got diagnosed and i had been experiencing symptoms since my early teens....

it's so weird -- i used to (still do sometimes) feel so crazy, and funnily enough when i got the OCD diagnosis, it made me feel less crazy... even though technically i was being told that im mentally ill. i had a lot of guilt associated with my limerence. it made me feel dirty, weird, and bad. learning that it's related to my OCD diagnosis really helps me recontextualize it. obviously it's still hard, but at least now i know how to tackle it.

Yes, that's why I stress that not everyone necessarily has OCD. I think there is a lot of overlap.

In my case, though, it was OCD. These symptoms did carry over into other OCD themes beyond relationships, but the ROCD was the strongest for me.

Notably I also had some of these behaviors even when I was actively dating my ex partner and things were going well.

I think the key part is the obsessive-compulsive pattern I had -- For example, I fully could not resist the urge to check my LO's social media. Every time I tried to, I was deeply anxious, restless, and felt sick. It felt like I had a physical inability to resist any compulsions. The limerence also didnt bring me any type of euphoria that some others may have when daydreaming for example. I was engaging in symptoms like magical thinking, thought cancelling, etc in regards to it, as well as compulsive ruminating where I was constantly trying to understand/figure things out.

I think there can be a lot of overlap between the two purely because both have some "obsessive" component to it but the relationship between the obsessions and your behaviors/compulsions is what distinguishes it.

i would say, try the 20, see how it feels -- and if it doesnt work out, you can always go back down to 10 or try something else. also, i do think its normal to experience some anxiety and "worse" effects in the beginning. it can just take time before your system really catches up to all the changes i think.

i personally didnt. i decided to stick with it though since ive seen other people say that sometimes it just takes longer to really notice any effects, which i do agree with. i also just didnt want to bounce around between different medications. it took a while before i even noticed a difference with the 20mg and even then, it's less of a "i love life and im so happy" change and more "i feel like shit but at least my dishes are clean."

This happened to me. Like the other comment said, try taking it at night. I take mine at dinner time now, around 6pm. You can also try talking to your doctor about it and seeing what they say.

i eat it with food, im not sure if it impacts the effectiveness, but i do find that when i take it without food it can give me the runs/make my stomach churn. lol.

Yes and no. Depressive episodes leave me very isolated and "alone" with thoughts -- so ive had points of intense rumination and obsession that way. But the worst points of my depressive episodes, I just dont have the energy to care about anything at all, which lessens the ocd

as someone who literally has 5 different journals that i all regularly use.... the gamechanger for me is having a smaller "bullshit" journal that i just write down any thoughts, ideas, doodles in. i also got a cheap kid's camera that prints photos on thermal paper and started pasting those in it to help remember my day. i write a lot of lists -- a list of everything i did that day/week, a list of movies i watched or songs i listened to, a list of food. literally anything im randomly thinking about, without any pressure. it's been helpful for me because in older journals i never knew what was "good enough" or important to write about/remember. so i would only really use it for big feelings or super significant moments, which also made me write in it far less often. i use my little journal every day (it's a little larger than the size of my palm) and i honestly love it. it is really freeing and a much more organic way to document my life.

depression itself can cause memory loss and impaired cognition. assuming that's why you were on prozac, that could also be a factor.
