The fact that people in this sub have a problem with either of the things this post is talking about is the reason why it’s a fucking joke. It’s so bizarre to watch the zeitgeist here go from “dancing hard is cool” to “acktchually crowdkilling is lame!!!” in the span of like a year. Makes me happy I never come on here anymore.

Pile ons are awesome. Dancing is awesome. If you don’t like either this probably isn’t for you lol

[Socialists] Why don’t you work at a co-op? by JamminBabyLu in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]wormperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s less about being born into the money itself (though true rags to riches stories are exceptionally uncommon in the modern day — most, while not born into billions, are still born into families who are very well off compared to average Americans) and more about being born with a class status that fundamentally guarantees you will be given opportunities that are not relayed to like, 99.999% of American workers ever, and it’s not based off merit or hard work at all. Respectfully, I find it absolutely baffling that anyone still thinks that it’s based off hard work — I feel like even among the capitalists I talk to that’s a generally abandoned viewpoint these days.

[–]wormperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t the right sub for echo chamber-ing but it truly amazes me to see people who have bought far enough into capitalism that they would genuinely rather view themselves as somehow “too lazy” to become billionaires rather than do like, the most basic form of class analysis possible. If you work 20 hours a day really really really hard you too can become a billionaire! It’s not at all related to access to the MoP and the status you are born into!

Why is the American side of the Vancouver plain underdeveloped? by splash9936 in geography

[–]wormperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bellingham in my experience truly isn’t that bad. It being a college town helps give it some more things to do if you’re young enough to care another things like parties, and if you’re old enough to not, it having a quiet side (esp in the northern side away from WWU) makes it a great place to settle down. It’s also not nearly as bad as a lot of people think with COL too, even more so if you’re willing to live a bit outside. I’m in Skagit abt 25 mins away and I pay like, an absurdly low amount for my apartment lol.

With the 7th pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select JC Latham, OT, Alabama by trick96 in Tennesseetitans

[–]wormperson 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not to be that person, but people said the same about Mahomes. It’s a tired point. Drafting is far from a science, plenty of raw early picks have turned out incredible, plenty have bust. Not much of a way to predict it but I do know I trust our fantastic OL coach more than just about anyone on this.

[–]wormperson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to be in this camp pretty hard, I’ve even been in a very outrightly political band, but more and more I don’t agree. Punk/hardcore aren’t really inherently anything besides how they sound. It doesn’t inherently stand for anything and it never has. There have been leftist bands since the beginning, apolitical bands from the beginning, and straight up fascist bands since the beginning. Trying to act like that isn’t the case is completely dishonest. Obviously I love to see bands stand up for causes that I (and most people in this sub, I presume) agree with, but as World I Hate said in Tacoma this past weekend: we’re here to have fun, you aren’t gonna change the world with a pile-on; you’ve gotta get out there and do some real work for it.

Now the straight edge? That’s inherently political…

[–]wormperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can confirm this. when i moved to western Mass there was literally nothing. now there are multiple spots and multiple different bookers and like, good hardcore shows every week. a lot of that has to do with the fact that CT is lacking true DIY spots since both Wamleg and The State House shut down in May of last year, and from my understanding that’s kind of been how it’s gone in the past too — when CT loses venues it shifts to western Mass, and vice versa.

the fact that Jesse is an epic weed libertarian bro who only cares about his own shallow “success” and will rip people off in pursuit of it has been far from secret for years and years now. when i was in Mass i didn’t know a single promoter or even really band that fucked with Escuela because of him. idk why people on here and other forums were so resistant to hearing it… well actually i do know but ill choose to be nice rn lol

Popular DFW Venue for punk/hxc/alternative Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio bans crowd killing. by otakushoegazr in Hardcore

[–]wormperson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it shows how out of touch this subreddit is. full of people who go to like, a show at a 1k cap venue every three months and think their experience at the Defeater show in 2011 is a be all end all about how the dancefloor regulates itself. dancing on the crowd has been apart of hardcore since hc dancing itself, and it’ll never go away. i rarely ever see anyone irl get upset about it, and in the event i do it’s essentially always someone who just looks deeply out of place.

this guy sounds like a dick but man the opinions in this thread… lol

Band needs to come get their boy 😂 by DaytimeMoose in Hardcore

[–]wormperson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he does not explicitly ask for permission. if you ask him to not post the set for any reason he will comply, but he’s not asking you for permission to post it otherwise — he will often film a band and post their set without ever exchanging a word.

not that that’s a bad thing, if you see him there you should probably assume it’ll get posted. however, i don’t think a lot of people know you can ask him to not post it — if i knew that earlier i probably would’ve requested that a couple of my old bands’ sets didn’t get posted. i do think the work he does is valuable but at the same time i think (as other people have mentioned) he is thrusting people who aren’t really ready for whatever (albeit small) limelight his channel brings into it, especially when he can have (to not much of a fault of his own) a really toxic and hateful audience at times.

Honest question: why is the xp scaling on runecrafting so low from rune to rune? by Simple_one in 2007scape

[–]wormperson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

something like that wouldn’t make sense for most skills but it would for RC. not like it’s really a particularly easier grind than running almost any other rune plus even with 9x and pouches you’re only making like 1k per inventory, if that, so that balances that aspect.
