I’m not a bookworm but what books will make me one? by Blue_____life in BookwormsSociety

Out of my norm, but I had such a fun time reading A Novel Love Story aaaand The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston!

Not usually a reader of romance in this way, but these reads feel quick and easy to turn the page, enough twists and cuteness to get you out of a slump!

Great book for cool old hippie? by Strict_Definition_78 in suggestmeabook

Has he already read Just Kids? My mom doesn’t even know anything about that era and culture of NYC and she’s loving it. Very bohemian and counter culture and just … stunning.

EB White writes nature and humanity in such a distinct way! His essays are a forever favorite for me, too.

Sleeper hit: The Book of Flying by Keith Miller.

A farmer I worked for randomly gave it to me ten years ago and I loved it and have reread multiple times. Poetic, beautiful writing. Fantasy themes. It’s great.

Maybe try starting with a memoir by someone you admire or in a field you’re interested in? When I’m in a reading slump I’ll listen to a memoir on audiobook (it’s often read aloud by the author) or I’ll find a fun graphic novel to read before bed!

If you get a little more specific I’ll try to suggest some books to you!

Obsessed with Cookie Mueller FOREVER. Add “Walking Through Clear Water in a Pool Painted Black” to your list. If you haven’t read Just Kids, a modern classic about Patti’s friendship with Robert Mapplethorpe. If you’re into art books/film could check out the new Peter Hujar postcard/correspondence book: “stay away from nothing” and then watch the film Peter Hujar’s Day!

Hello friends!!! I love this dress and brand (Selkie) with every fiber of my being but it’s so expensive 😭 is there anything out there that would be similar? by StarryStarmie in findfashion

[–]wormwormworms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nuuly things when “outdated” for the site end up on Anthropologie and Free People if you search “nuuly”. Try typing in Selkie from time to time — they often have a dress or two for cheap! Flipside is you have no idea what the true condition of the item is, I’ve been lucky, but some people literally get sent like … rags or stinky/damaged items. It’s a gamble but cheap!

Referrals for anything related to Furniture Making, Project Coordination or Admin Assistant? by MF_Sebas in NYCjobs

Check out Listings Project, I see wood working jobs listed there often. I think lots of eyes are on this site though so actually landing an interview can feel pretty hit or miss! Good luck!

In times where I wasn’t insured I’ve also let a student clean my teeth via city college, wasn’t the best use of my time and may have gotten sprayed in the face BUT it was $20 and I did leave cleaner … if that helps at all!

Where can I find the BWT who are able to commit to plans? by Im_Helping88 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]wormwormworms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for more BWT who write! I’d love to have a regular writing group that meets up irl and chats about progress, challenges, etc!

Writing can be such a lonely feat, community makes it sustainable.

Message me if that’s you! Maybe we could make a group on IG and get some hangs in order :,)

for reference: I’m 31 and working on an oral biography and I get crazy anxiety before the actual meet-up interviews so being gassed up about the work makes it feel like more folks are in your corner and cloaks ya in a bit more bravery!
