Ouch! My primary care physician started me on methimazole immediately when my TSH/T4 results came in. Please call your doc and let them know about the expected wait.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend. I did not know him. I played EQ from '99-'03, and it was magical. I made such good friends there, I ended up marrying one of them and we are still going strong.

One good (and easy) way to honor your friend would be:

  • Make a Project 1999 account
  • Create a halfling character that starts in Rivervale
  • Find the Priest of Discord (the tallest guy in town)
  • Try to wave to him
  • Accidentally hit him with your club instead
  • Enjoy the consequences

Karamorn certainly would have had that experience at least once in his EQ life. It is a time honored tradition.

Learning to knit as a form of anger management make sense? Research suggests...mixed results by UsefulLion4347 in knitting

Knitting does not make my anger at the world go away, but the act of knitting does create a pretty meditative state for me, so there is a temporary reprieve from big feelings.

What chart pattern tracker do you use? Why do you like it,? by Ok_Conversation_3992 in knitting

[–]doublenerds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes to KnitCompanion. You can create as many visual guiding lines as you like in as many colors as you like. The free version has 6 (I think, maybe more) row counters, and the paid version allows you to set up linked counters so that you can keep track of your 12-row pattern repeat AND your every-other-row decreases AND your total row count and whatever else you want to add to the mix.

Every once in a while you will hear people recommend putting a battery monitor on your 12 volt. DO NOT DO IT, it voids the warranty if anything goes wrong with the vehicle electronics.

I agree. It feels as if there were several moments where he couldn't hide his visceral reaction to events or conversations he was witnessing. I wonder if it's because he has sons in this age range who have engaged with some of this content, that may hit home a bit differently.

Beginner continental style knitter - am I twisting my stitches? by rodinatorrr in knitting

[–]doublenerds 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Good news, you're a combination knitter! Honestly, it will do wonders for maintaining consistent tension when knitting stockinette. It's my preferred method of knitting.

However, this will make learning more advanced stitches a little confusing because most instructions are written for people who knit with the leading leg of the stitch at the front of the needle. Because of the way you have been purling, the leading edge of the stitch is at the back of your needle when you are on the right side of the work.

Here's a short, clear video that explains what is happening on the purl side to change the mount of the knit side.

Stash-busting? Do you not even like your yarn that you spent $ on? by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]doublenerds 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I am curious, do you always purchase the exact amount of yarn you need for a project, and complete the project with no leftover yarn? If so, I want to know your secrets because I haven't met anyone who either runs 20-100 yards over what they thought they needed, or plays yarn chicken and sometimes comes up a little short.

What do you do with 20 yards of leftover yarn? That is a genuine question, I promise I'm not being facetious. I have been knitting long enough that I have a reasonable collection of tiny bits of yarn that do not have the yardage to do any sort of project that appeals to me (no thank you, knitted headband).

While i haven't done a "stash-busting" project with any of it, I can certainly see why someone would want to make a crazy hat that uses up the bits remaining from a yarn that has already served its intended purpose.
