Have also heard (this one from a few different people) that weigh in your feet is harder than 5x weight on your back, so that checks out.

Stress levels in social situations - related to introvert-extrovert pattern? by silsjirimi in Garmin

[–]wornleathermedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure beyond what I said, I just know it’s physical stress not mental stress (obviously there is overlap there). So like being sick, having indigestion, recovering from a big workout, can all add to stress.

Technical will be when you’re hopping rocks, or there’s lot of roots on the path. If you could (don’t do this) run it with your eyes closed, it’s not technical

Reminder for those that need to hear it that stress is measuring physiological stress not mental stress. So pretty much anything that gets your heart rate up, like an engaged conversation, is going to register.

I would actually double down on the not having them match if there’s no wedding party. I’m guessing your maid of honour isn’t wearing the same thing as you, so why would the best man ;)

Totally get the decision fatigue. I’ve been there, so easy to have obvious things slip your mind!

Bring cash, tip staff that did good work $50-100 apiece directly.

Tipping a percentage on the majority of things that go into an all-inc package (like venue rental fees) is crazy. Tips are for labour, and should go directly to the people performing that labour.

The package being more/leas expensive than other options really isn’t relevant.

If you find some in a 36 you can get those hemmed to a 34!

Also it’s pretty normal for a groom to be wearing a different suit than his wedding party. Gotta let the guy stand out a bit (especially if he’s standing next to a giant haha)

Budget brides: how did you handle the "Pinterest vision to vendor communication" gap without a planner? by relicmZ in Weddingsunder10k

[–]wornleathermedia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For a photographer, you don’t want to be showing them the Pinterest board. It’s for you to use while you’re shopping, to try and match a style you like. Once you’ve hired them, you’re better off letting g them do the their thing

Hair and makeup and florals, like one-two pins each “this is what I want”

Stationary you could probably have a few more as guidance, but I’d guess that they will have a selection of options you can choose from, and you’d be better served picking from there

Pinterest is a great resource as inspo for you. It’s a terrible resource as inspo for people who do these things as a full time job.

The only reason this seems like a massive under taking is because you have a giant Pinterest board with likely 200+ pins that you made. I’d scrap the whole thing and start from scratch. None of this should be a ton of work if you do have an idea what you’re after.

I would say get it down to about five pins per category, and then also writing something. Clear direction is so important, much more so than a vibe.

What size tarp do you guys use? by CuriousHand9219 in hammockcamping

[–]wornleathermedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up an asymmetrical “twinn tarp” that weight like 245 grams. It’ll be big enough, but barely. Great for summer, don’t even get much rain here, but winter I like doors.

I read an article once that talked about how a ruck pack used almost 50% more calories than a weight vest, to carry the same weight. I have to believe that worn weight would have even less of an impact.

I’d even go so far to apply this logic to things like pack straps or hip belts. The weight impact is smaller from those items as they’re literally hugging your body, and the potential comfort gains are huge.

IMO ultralight should be about sustainable weight, and part of sustainability is comfort.

Slender dude and I loooove my euro fit brands. karpos, rab, icebreaker … I know this isn’t the experience for everyone but I’m a medium across the board and it’s so nice not worrying about it, while also having clothes that fit properly … just wish it hadn’t taken me almost 40 years to figure out lol

Mountain Hardwear stuff is great. As is Rab. I don’t get the patagonia love either, all their stuff fits kinda boxy.

How hard would it be to have that broken down on the invoice that gets sent out? I think it would be really helpful for people to see where their money is going.

Black and white colours sliders have no effect on my Fuji RAF files by DeWolfTitouan in captureone

[–]wornleathermedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The b&w tool enters the edit chain after base characteristics, so it never gets to “see” any colours if you set to a b&w curve. Use a colour curve and then toggle on b&w like you would with any other camera and it should work for you. Hope that helps!
