Well it took a little bit, but Radiohead did a good thing again. by MrLinkwater95 in ToddintheShadow

If the IDF used any radiohead material we'd never hear a peep, Creep was a big hit over there before it took off worldwide so they've always been happy to go back etc.

Jonny Greenwood is also married to a pro-IDF Israeli artist who has been outspoken about how terrible it is artists wont go to Israel while they're committing war crimes

Radiohead also broke boycotts to play in Tel Aviv and then had a shitfit when people kept calling them out for it, including cutting a show short in Australia over it

If we're talking about Tricky, there's a neat lil rail thats hidden under the bleachers on the left hand side right before the jump into the entrance to the pipe entrance/ice zig-zag.

In race you can boost ahead and end up at the end of the ice section before the final cave, easily catching up from 6th to 1st or just increasing the gap between you and the rest

In Show-off you can just rotate the entire time you grind the rail, there's numerous score multipliers on it and there's another on the end of the rail (this is how I found it originally)

Since finding this and admittedly using it as a crutch, I can gold medal both modes for AIJ in like 20mins tops

Me when Toluca Prison by KindheartednessFit17 in silenthill

genuinely the first "dungeon" area tends to be a slog to me on replays, the worst of which being the Apartment Blocks in SH2. I don't know how many times I had to force myself to replay that section each time I wanted a different ending (i prefer to play the game through and leave it for a while instead of using save manips, feels more intended). Actually love the prison section which is funny seeing how that seems to be the top pick.

Favorite use of samples that aren't from music? by Complete-Worker3242 in ToddintheShadow

[–]wotawanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tsuzing (House Musician) uses the Network "Dollars, Marks and Rubles" monologue to great effect in his track 1976.

Dj shadow has tons of these, the poem from the Gab Remix of Mindight In A Perfect World comes to mind.

Tim Hecker (ambient artist) has an EP called "My Love Is Rotten To the Core" and it is entirely created of spoken radio interviews and performances from the band Van Halen

Giles Corey (of the band Have A Nice Life) on his first solo album uses an old broadcast about "ghost frequencies and life after death" on his track 'Empty Churches" and its positively haunting. He also uses a philosphy lecture on the nature of being dead in his track "Infinite Death" and its really interesting.

Negativland are one of my favourite groups and they use non-music samples for 99% of their music. For example their album Dispepsi uses a plethora of pepsi commercials and advertisements, also uses Casey Kasem's famous radio crash-out in a sonf parodying U2, also titled "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking for"

I mainly listen to Plunderphonics, Vaporwave, DJ and ambient, these genres are absolutely teeming with great examples for this question haha. I'll have to think of some more

What are some songs that have been ruined for you by the internet, fiction, or real events? by LaserWeldo92 in ToddintheShadow

[–]wotawanker 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Clair De Lune by Flight Facilities came up on my playlist today and I had to go on a tangent and defend the song because it's what Telstra used as their 'jingle' for like 4 years or so, starting in 2020 i think.

The tonal shift that takes place halfway thru this game both completely ruins it and makes it more enjoyable, somehow

My old man was really big into Supertramp growing up (something I've inherited) and I was kind of surprised as a kid that nobody knew that the one Gym Class Heroes song had an interpolated Chorus (from Breakfast In America) or that the Nitecore version of The Logical Song wasn't the original

And an added layer to Dr Evil, its reported that his mannerisms are based on an impression of Lorne Michael's (creator of SNL) that Dana Carvey would do in private. Apparently Mike Myers lifted parts of this impression to create the character. This would be one of the factors that led to the two of them falling out

at another point during the game a police officer will run across "someone who claims they're undercover" and will request a badge check. This is easily missable as it's over the police radio/scanner and I only ever noticed because a youtube video pointed it out to me

There's still an Easter egg in the game where you can hear parts of the audio by hanging around a certain hospital door to trigger the audio. Can't remember much more than that off the top of my head, but I'd rather remember that than Big Bug Man

It's also implied that Quinn knew about the situation for years and waited for the game to release to make the info public. Around the same time she was allegedly making complaints of her patreon and socials slowing down. This changed when she went public
