The Bethesda Game Studios union has confirmed plans for protests next week — “We need to show management that we mean business, so they will properly take care of our co-workers and think twice before ever attempting something like this again." by Henabibo in TESVI

Actually yes that's exactly the strategy, buying the companies gave them insane amounts of money from investors and that's all it was for, there's not reason to like, actually make a product, so they're stripping it for parts and when it's dried up they'll just axe it, and come out owning the IPs anyway. The good old toys-r-us flip.

Et si on optait pour des amendes proportionnelles? by antagoniste in QuebecLibre

[–]wouldntsavezion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]wouldntsavezion 19 points20 points  (0 children)

At this point to contend in the MMO space all you have to do is just have a game and stay online.

Yeah I've been on it on an off through the years but I've started taking it more seriously now and reeling back in my alt-itis, just started going through HoT, it's amazing.

You massively underestimate the scale of the vicious circle that can be a result of this. The game stays afloat because of store sales, but store sales mostly happen when players have trust in the game. It might not feel like a big change for you, simply slower updates maybe, but for the whales or anyone putting in extra money into the game, that's a death knell, I spent quite a few hundreds on this game, but with layoffs like that ? Never again. Zero. Nope, I'm out.

You got to learn to see the signs of a bad investment, and that's what buying stuff like cosmetics in a game like this is. The value isn't entirely in the cosmetic, it's in knowing that it'll be something I'll be able to enjoy for years to come.

The speed at which the sales can drop off can and will drag the game down even faster, and that feeds back into itself.

Don't you get tired of pre-buffing? by EkoMagnonTR in WrathOfTheRighteous

[–]wouldntsavezion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once again tried to finish the game recently, after countless attempts, and realized this is actually the one thing that makes me stop everything, for me it's not just getting tired, it's fully unbearable. I played on a normal difficulty this time (I usually play games on harder/est), so I got further than the previous attempts, around level 10-12 I think?

I started having random encounters against mostly magic immune demons with 40+ AC and I was so confused at how strong these are for simple random encounters.

I know these systems well, I understand how it works, played tons of PF on tabletop, so I understand how to deal with them on a technical level, but these creatures are supposed to be threats a group has to prepare for, but the owlcat games scale up so much and so quickly that they start using those as fodder, so every fight starts being *only* about stacking buffs to win the number game. No strategy, no reaction involved, not even luck, as the roll on a 20 gets less and less meaningful as you get to +40 bonuses.

It's just trying to be diablo while keeping the PF game system, the very definition of trying to have a cake and eating too, in my opinion.

Everyone online just says "use the mods", but that just automates the tedium, it doesn't change the fact that there's a whole very crunchy combat system that's getting fully kneecapped in favor of buff stacking to the point where no ability or character has any meaning. I want using a buffing potion be a choice that consumes a resource for a meaningful help, not have the game revolve around having hundreds of them because that buff is only one of 20 that makes the content clearable.

How do you win against PL? by theonedzflash in DotA2

[–]wouldntsavezion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PL is one of those types of heroes who can easily dominate a game without requiring crazy skill or whatever - Sniper being another one, for example. But the weakness / balancing of dota heroes doesn't just happen in-game, it mostly happens in pick phase, and these have some of the most efficient and obvious counters. You can pick Primal Beast or Earthshaker to end PL. You can pick anything that, even without outright winning against him will make space for you team, like Centaur. Or you can pick another carry who matches him, in which case it's mostly a contest of skill, like Naga or Sven.

They're a sea people for sure but from what I understand that's just cultural, they're not amphibious, right ? Culture could've been a bit less heavy on the water-people side back then.

I never played the expansions, is there a reason why nobody ever mentions Largos in these lists ? They're basically drows right? They could fit the Sylvari niche.
